Obviously your not very good at math.

Have you heard of the B-wing?

Please Ignore the next poster who is going to say "Well I bought it for $100." Unfortunatly CAGR isnt based on what "you" bought it at. To also reinforce my point there are 2 B-wings still sitting at my local Legoland at $200 and still no one has picked them up.  Its been over a year since it retired.

I don't want to be a hater but not every Lego star wars set is a hit.

I wasn't around for the B-Wing so I'll let others chime in on the returns for that set.  I do think it's difficult to compare these two ships, however.  I'm a huge Star Wars fan so I like the B-Wing, but it doesn't rank even close to the X-wing in terms of popularity.  I'm also pretty sure collectors don't flock to Legoland to complete their collection.  B-Wings are selling just fine for $200 online.

I kept the Math simple since its hump day.  I left the differential equations on the bookshelf for another day.

Yes yes.. but just LOOK at the B-wing, which is really not iconic in the SW universe and look at Red Five!

"Red Five, Standing by" is one of the enduring quotes out of Episode IV.

To "Red Five" someone according to the Urban Dictionary is to completely dominate them!

For that reason: I submit to you that this is a winner :)

I agree with you that not every SW set is a hit. But the X-Wing is very different from the B-Wing. The X-wing fighter is one of the most common SW ships. On the other hand, the B-wing was in the movies for a very short period of time and a lot of people don't know much about it.

If a Star Wars set is iconic, well liked, and a UCS version, then most likely it will do well after retirement.

I know every single time I am watching Luke in red five destroy the Death Star at the end of Episdoe IV that the B Wing is of equal importance and is on my mind.

Like I never think of the B wing ever even when I see it and I have one box sealed I never look at and I never even think of it when I see it in the actual movie.

Red Five is just like that.

Non believers please avoid seriously it's great.

Excuse me while I get some more this Saturday with some Ewok, Pet Shop and a dash or two of Death Star.

If it shows an X-Wing in the trailer, I would call this set money for future sales, one willing to hold for awhile.

Even if there is a another release of an updated X-wing version (I personally dont see it) the 10240 is a hit in my eyes.

I'm not saying this will be a bad investment or how much more recognizable this is. I am just pointing out that you can not use UCS Star Wars Spaceship=$$ math.

99% of the time, you can say UCS = $$, but there is always an exception. Right now, the exception is the B-wing.

As to t

I would say this I know it has not been popular.  I have a store filled with 2013 dated sets not moving.  I am not buying based on current sales.

I am buying based on Episode VII being out, no UCS X Wing being available and people wanting what they cannot have.

If I go down in a blaze of glory hopefully my Town Hall's will bail me out. LOL

I happened to notice back in November that both my lego stores had X-wings with date stamps that put them around May of 2013......in other words, the week they came out. SO in the 18 months since they came out, they were STILL on that first batch?

Lots of other folks have found later 2013, and some 2014 codes. Now we finally have some 2015 codes, but i maintain this set was way under bought.

The main reason? Many folks said this wasn't THAT much of an improvement over the original. Many folks complained about the piece count vs price. But now that the X-Wings are going to be back on the big screen (and different) and we have a legit UCS Tie Fighter to pose it with??

This thing dissapeared from ALL retailers from December until March 10th. Now there is a new print run, that (so far) only appears to be available at Lego and Lego LEGO Shop at Home. This feels an awful lot like R2-D2, but with a print run over 1 year shorter, and some signs that they never sold well at all. (the date stamp stagnation).

I think this is a big winner and challenges R2 for price quickly if the Lego run goes quickly.

I agree

Money yes, but not always the fastest money... I remember hanging on to the Vader Tie, General Greivous and At-St for quite a while  before they were worth selling

Can I ask which legoland?

it wasnt a Bwing that Luke was piloting but an Xwing that did in the DS ... it was an Xwing that luke had risen from the swamps ... it was an Xwing that .... yada yada

thats why the UCS Xwing will be winners despite what the naysayers think ...

Just picked up 2 of these in a lego store (picking up 2 more next week if they still have them hiding in back), and the seal code is 05r5. ...Is that the latest we've seen so far?

well it is Red 5 ... r5 sounds about right!

That's a pretty silly statement.

Actually your right.  Collectors don't flock to Legoland to complete their collection...

Resellers flock to Legoland to buy inventory at 10% off for a quick flip. :)

I Love It and not in the I Love It thread.  Going Rogue!  Rogue Squadron.

I have to defend the B-Wing.  It's my favorite SW ship and the heaviest rebel fighter in the original trilogy, easily worth two or three X-wings versus any imperial capital ship (putting Luke in the pilot seat of the X-wing is obviously cheating).  Laser cannons, ion cannons, proton torpedoes, what's not to love?  It just needed some more screen time...

Just had 2 of these ship from LEGO Shop at Home, one order from mid Jan, the other from mid Feb.  LEGO Shop at Home still says 30 days on this though, so either they have not updated the inventory, or did not get enough to fill all the orders.

So if this goes to Sold Out after 2x VIP (or the May 4th promos), never to return again, what is everyone's prediction for Christmas 2015 FBA pricing?  I am going with $350.  Too bullish?

seems about right.  Been selling them for $250-270 range for the last month and a half.  Should go down a bit with orders being fulfilled and if gone I could see $350 by Xmas on FBA.  Ebay about $300-325.

If totally gone in May: $395 via FBA and $350 by Christmas on eBay. I say that because it will get a $100 bump immediately, and then another bump come Episode VII.
