Just about the only thing I am going to guarantee around here is that the majority WILL ignore that little snippet of wisdom...

Too bad there is no blog about "reseller etiquette and advice for the new investor" to cover such topics as:

the BAN Hammer and Lego's stance on reselling

Ordering limits in general, and other options to accumulate stock

How to handle coupon confusion with grace and patience

0 feedback buyers - innocent or not?

How to spot scam / counterfeit listings and avoid supporting their sellers

TRU parking lots

Useful, anti-inflammatory phrasing of questions and opinions on this site

and so on...

As for Red 5, I believe it was a very poor seller for many of the reasons that have not been mentioned these last few pages, and I believe it flew LOW in the trench avoiding EOL radar for far "too long" (given the horde's recent acuity and ferocity) due to all the other recent Sold Outs, holiday disruption, surplus stock nearly everywhere, and other factors. I believe it has not been produced in quite some time... and probably wasn't intended to be made again. I would be quite thrilled, however, to see it come back in force for a while longer. If we were ever to find out that the horde triggered such a thing, that would make this a seriously fun business!

If LEGO has decided to move on I'm not sure a short-term spike in sales near the end is going to prolong it's shelf life.  They have a limited number of resources to allocate for production and with new exclusives rolling out all year including the new UCS TIE Fighter they will have to pull the plug before too long.  Obviously there are exceptions to the rule, but the reseller horde sure didn't seem to prolong the life of the SSD, TH, HH, or AA last year.

Most important thing you have said in this thread and most likely to be ignored

^Yes. Us member of this forum like to think more highly of ourselves than we should. A few hundred people buying a few thousand sets is not going to change the production plans of a multi-billion dollar company.

I agree with this.

I think Red Five will be back some places for a little while.  Then it will be gone.

I still predict it is gone before Episode VII.

Red 5 has gone from out of stock to available now in Europe.  It looks like a new wave is en route.  As an aside, Lego does sometimes reallocate stock also.  I can remember in the past buying 10193's from LEGO Shop at Home that had 'S' seal codes (rather than 'R'), indicating they were shipped from Europe.  One way or another, I predict at least one more big restocking of this set in the States as well.

That's fine. I think most of us have more shelf space to fill anyways.

I'm surprised that I've not seen the R5 discounted as much like the SSD was even before LEGO went "no discount on exclusives".  However, I'm a big SW fan and hope they survive until 2xVIP. I only have the one I bought unboxed on so far that I'm going to build.  BTW... Is it the same size box as the B-Wing, SSD, R2?

Box sizes are listed in the pricing guide.

None of those are the same size boxes.

Especially not the SSD.

SSD>>>>>Bwing>R2>Xwing

Thanks, I have more space for them than I thought. The SSD box is huge and I'm sure it weighs more then the 10179 MF I had years ago (which I sold too cheap after building it).

there are a lot of us on here that dream about wives like you.

Yet we can only pray that this never actually happens. We would basically get the sensation of living in a B&M. Guests wouldn't sleep in the guest room, they would be in storage room #6. If you have to go to the toilet, you wouldn't go to the bathroom, you would either go to storage room #3 or #4 (and at least make sure it's one of those two).
