Chris wow.

I chatted with them twice and called in twice over the last two weeks and they would say they do not have access to this information.

This person must have been honest?

I'm going to jump in for another 4.  I don't know why.

Yeah, the guy was really cool. I just explained I was trying to decide if I want to buy another now or wait and the stock level would help me make up my mind. He went on to ask if I collect and resell and said his brother is 37 and also into SW lego. I wonder if the other reps you spoke or chatted to have access to the info and were just being difficult.

Don't feel bad about wanting to buy 4 more.. I was at my target number weeks ago but after finally building one I keep buying more. Its' predecessor was one of the builds that brought me out of my dark ages but I really like this version much better. I know that might not affect resale value, but who knows if they will ever do a Red 5 again. It is, after all, the most iconic ship in the SW universe. : )

If either Red 5 or the $18 Flying Flushers do sell out, don't worry I visually confirmed 232,689 Chima Fire Bikes in the checkout lanes of Targets just in the southeast.  They're still there people.  Don't let them slip by...

I ordered 2 from TRU about a week ago, shipped in the lego case.  Thought, oh nice I'll order a couple more in another couple of weeks and try to get 4 a month for the next couple of months.  And then someone released the hounds.

Now what are you going to do?

Torn on this one.

Have seen it assembled, and- just my opinion- a  nice build, but compared with other UCS sets I don't feel it is in the upper-class... again, just my opinion.

Going against it- there will always be some x-wing version kicking around, one way or another. Unlikely one this "epic", but one available nonetheless.

Going for it-

Just watch the "Force Awakens" preview and see how significant the X-wing is to all the SW action coming. Surely that will help with this set... but surely it will mean more X-wing iterations to come. More variations = diluted investment. Example: it would be surprising to see another SSD available, in any format. If you love that ship and demand it for your collection, get ready to shell out $1,400+ (just wait). If you love the x-wing- but can't afford the Red-5- you will have more affordable options at a lower price and less piece-count.

I am a fan of Batman, and Legos- but I noticed Batman is now fighting a gorilla in the newest Lego set. A gorilla. Point being: Batman is here to stay, from his epic battles with Bane and The Joker, to him riding around in a ridiculous vehicle battling a giant monkey. This makes Batman, as a stand-alone investment, an unappealing one. Diluted, diluted, diluted.

It's something to keep in mind with the Red-5.

A hell of a set... and certainly deserves a place in an investor's portfolio. But how heavy a hand to play with it is questionable.

So, again- I'm torn on this one. Definitely in for a few, but cautiously optimistic on long-term gains relative to other $200+ sets..

congratulation fellow BP'ers. you did it :D .. poofed 10240 Red X-Wing from TARGET :D. Whether Ed, Jeff gives you or not.. TRUST ME YOU DESERVE pat on the back. so go ahead and PAT yourself if you think you contributed to the noble cause....

en masse horde effect :) ....

Good Luck to all the massive hoarders out there. May your investment be rewarded with like minded return.

For those who decided to pass on this,

  1.        there are better alternatives :P
  2.        you haven't missed the boat on bigger gains
  3.        remember F5's and you will be rewarded with more of these sets.
  4.        listen to your head not the heart.
  5.        wish you all the best on the next set.

now on to next set :D .. this one is POOF!!!!

If you ask people whether they want fruit or chocolate for dessert today and 1 week from now, they will choose chocolate for the former and fruit for the latter.

Bottom line with this set. Above average investment. Are there possibly better choices right now? Maybe, but this is showing many signs of EOL. It has for months. No guarantees from me on this set though, just looking at the activity and reading the tea leaves.

I imagine it's hard to make any comments on this forum when everyone has crowned you a prophet. Either that, or a lot of fun to mess with us. ;)
