jaisonline
I doubt 75159 will be 20% off anytime soon. The set seems to be selling well enough at least in my area. Who knows though. I do see 20% off sales after Ep 8 hits home video (prob April 2018). The set's new car smell and ep 8 bump will be long over by then. Val-E
That´s the point. The uncertain shelf life AND risk of immediate remake are likely to hold many people back. Plus storing it is a real bind.
jaisonline
The 10188 "take 2" is an extra $50 higher than MSRP in NYC. Just shaking my head. However, folks are still buying it. Impulsive buyers I presume.
iahawks550
Lol. I think the only way I'm touching this set (again) is if I can get B&N type discounts of 40%. Maybe

You can get that sweet hair in the new Desert Skiff set if you really need it in your world. Many of these figs are available for far less. LEGO undermining their 'exclusivity' of exclusive sets again.

Popular Post jaisonline
I finally had a chance to look at the instructions manual. Oh brother. I knew many of the original 10188 designers worked on 75159 but even so, some of the Q&A comments made me laugh in disgust. Basically, the quaility of this Q&A directly relates to why there wasn't a 75159 Designer Video. Come to think about it, I can't remember the last time an exclusive large set didn't have a Designer Video. While I made nice money selling my 10188s, the AFOL in me is still angry about this reissue.

Harley Quinn
I think the amount of hate this set gets is unwarranted. The 10188 always struck me as an "evergreen" set. LEGO was always going to have it available for people to collect. It was the set kids and adults would aspire to own one day. With all of the advancements TLG has made in their sets, printing, stickers, minifigs etc. it would make sense that at some point this was going to need a facelift if it was going to stay on the market. I like what they changed and glad they did it. This is like the greatest gift a parent could give to their child if they are a LEGO and Star Wars fan. KShine
This re-release and LEGO's virtual lie/knowing deception about the retirement of the 10188 has had an impact on all higher valued LEGO sets. It is an impact which might be permanent. Edited January 11, 2017 by KShine

I hate this set because it represents uninspired creativity which is pretty much the exact opposite of why I enjoy LEGO.

The quote by one of the 75159 designers sums what you typed. He found the most challenging design aspect to be redesigning Vader's TIE for the larger minifig helmet.
Val-E
The most challenging element was redesigning the price but I thought we were through with hating this and Ass on Hoth. 2017 should bring plenty more sets to dislike, such as adventure time, AA, Guggenheim and the Y wing remakes. However, I agree there is a permanent impact
