Zender
Any Canadians out there interested in buy a large bulk lot of 115 sets? I would like to sell it in Canada because I think the cost of shipping to the US tracked etc is going to be insane. It is currently taking up two 100+L Rubbermaid containers. I bought a large amount from a local person that kids had grown up and they were moving and needed to get rid of all their toys and lego. It was a lot more work than I expected and after almost 3 months and hundreds of hours, myself and my kids have it all sorted out and want to sell it (which was our end goal when buying). Our 2 week estimate was way off so getting a little pressure to get this sold. All sets around from around 1998 -> 2005 range. Themes included are Star Wars, Adventurers, Rock Raiders, Town, Pirate, Ninja, Western, Castle, Space, Aquazone, Technic, Train, Time Cruisers, and Sports. All sets are in zip lock storage bags and labelled. All sets are used except one. The new the sets the better the instructions conditions etc. Kids owned these but I can tell as they got to the buying Star Wars stuff they took real good care of them. Here is a complete list of all the sets by theme and whether complete, instructions included, etc. (Complete to me, means every part listed for the set on Bricklink but none of the extra parts). Some of the older instructions are pretty beaten up but still in book form. justapilgrim
If I make offers on lots like this, I make them an offer per set. $10/set is $1150. While some sets worth more than that, I am taking all the small crap off their hands. A lot of not as desirable stuff in there so not sure what I would offer

Don't know if it's any help to you but I ran the set list through a bulk calculator & received the following: (rounded to 2 decimal places) Used - Average last 6 Month BL Sales: (7 item with no sold history) $3254.80 (US) $4349.22 (CAD) Used - Average Current BL Inventory $4215.00 (US) $5632.29 (CAD) Edited November 23, 2015 by Thumper typo

Figured I'd add the rest of the bulk calculator output (just in case you or your buyer might be thinking of selling as a parts store on Bricklink) Used Parts - Average last 6 Month BL Sales: (+34 item with no sold history) $3779.31 (US) $5050.83 (CAN) Used Parts - Average Current BL Inventory: (+31 item not currently available but in set inventory) $4690.65 (US) $6268.78 (CAN) if all your sets are complete (sans Instructions, boxes & sticker sheets) you have: 2659 individual lots (groups of identical parts) 20,441 total parts total weight 67.82 lbs 30.76 Kg (very loosely estimated by catalogue) 172 individual minifigs 293 total minifigs $1055.54 minifigs value (at Average Current BL Inventory) Given the $700 difference between selling as sets and as parts (over several years) I'd recommend selling by sets as best you can.
Zender
Wow thanks for the info. I had a rough idea of the set values but no clue about the part out value. So to give an idea of where I was thinking value wise, around 60% off of any of those values. The $10 per set seems low and wouldn't leave me with much value at all. Again, if someone is good at flipping or parting out used sets just throw me a number. I have had a few offers already to part out specific themes but I am looking for someone to take it all or at least most of it and I am sure you could make a large chunk of profit. Zender
I was thinking around $1500US (about 55% off lowest number above) to start since people have been asking for a specific number. It's about 90 pounds of stuff and bulk 90 pounds of unsorted stuff goes for about $900US I think. This is sorted, accounted for an has manuals, etc. Does that seem reasonable or does that not leave enough profit for resellers? Vodium
What would shipping be for all that, ~$150?
justapilgrim
$10 wasn't me to lowball, just starting point if I were looking at the lot. At $1500 you are close to $14 a set, so really not that low ball of an offer. Looks like a fun lot, I hope it goes to a good home
Zender
A couple of people have asked about shipping and I am located in BC. So roughly to eastern Canada it will be around $200 with insurance. I thought it would be less. Even with that in mind, I am willing to work out a price that includes shipping. The hard part with the shipping is there are a bunch of large contoured base plates (4 or 5 can't remember) that eat up a lot of space. Weight is an issue because I would have to separate it into multiple boxes as well. $10 wasn't a low ball offer, it was an offer. It's a little low for me but still a good offer. 115 sets is a lot of sets. Literally my kids and I have been working on this stuff almost nightly for 3 months lol. We built every single set and then took each one apart to verify piece counts. It's been a ton of fun but a lot hours. Vodium
That's not to bad for shipping, considering the weight. I look at the $1500 and think, that's a good deal, then I remember that its USD. lol, That exchange rate.
Stragus
@Thumper Do you have a BSX file for that whole inventory of used sets? Sale prices are only part of the story, I would like to run a small program analyzing supply & demand.

I put USD because all the quotes for values were in USD and wanted to compare apples and apples. Obviously I prefer CDN dollars Do we have any Canadian members on here that run Bricklink stores? They would probably have the best judge of value of these sets because they would know how easy it would be for them to flip or part out. I haven't sold any parts or a single used set before so part of the reason I am looking for direction from you all.
Stragus
15 minutes ago, Zender said: Do we have any Canadian members on here that run Bricklink stores? Yes, I sell on BrickLink and BrickOwl. I have never sold used sets or parts though. I have asked my price management software at what price it would list the sets, if I had them for sale. The given total is 2890.61 USD, a little lower than Thumper's figures . Also, you had the Gungan Patrol listed 7155, the correct number is 7115. Stragus
If anyone is interested, this is the BSX file of the inventory, with the sale price assigned to each set by my automated software:http://www.bricksync.net/zender.bsx (It's XML, human eyes can open and read it without any special software) Edited November 26, 2015 by Stragus

Sale prices are only part of the story, I would like to run a small program analyzing supply & demand. I do, I'm not sure how to send it, I'll have to investigate that if the op doesn't mind (don't want to step on toes)... My vb script just takes the text of the message/email/kijiji listing etc., filters out the set numbers dumps an xml file to create a master xml list of the contents of each set, sorts & consolidates then removes the chaff (like sticker sheets, instructions & boxes in the case of used sets) then goes to Bricklink to pull the current\lma values for everything. It drops outlier current values (like a $10,000 luke minifig) & substitutes the average lma value instead. I haven't used the script in awhile as I closed my store a couple years ago when Bricklink was having so many corruption problems & just became such a hostile place to operate so there's quite likely going to be some variances now adays, but I figured it's a reasonable ball-park estimate without taking more than a couple minutes effort. (note: the BSX file would be in the Brickstore compatible format as that is what I was using at the time I think it's nearly directly compatible with the newer BrickStock programme thou) Edited November 26, 2015 by Thumper
Zender
I have had lots of questions so I will try and sum them up here: 1) When I purchased the bulk lot I had a box of instructions, 4 large bins of loose lego with nothing built. From there my kids and I were able to build all sets and account for all pieces. 2) All pieces are include for sets except the parts listed. Part list is based on Bricklink's listed parts with none of the extra parts included. The Star Wars stuff is the most recent and seems to be very well taken care of. Instructions are in good condition for the most part but clearly have been used by kids (bent corners, some wear, etc). 3) Price is negotiable as I could probably cover shipping depending on location / cost. 4) My timeline to sell is sooner rather than later. Would prefer to sell it before Christmas if possible but I can wait longer if necessary. 5) I am located in Kelowna, BC. If you are in BC or somewhere close by we could even use Greyhound for delivery which would bring the price down a lot (never used it for delivery before but someone mentioned it as a good viable option for short trips). 6) I have had requests for pics. Everything is bagged up and I didn't take any pictures of it all when it was built. If you are very serious and want a specific picture of a set I can take one individually and possibly rebuild (would rather not rebuild at this point though). I have included a picture of what it all looks like and I have it stored in two very large bins which account for around 100 pounds with the instructions. Zender
Just an update on this thread... over the Christmas holidays I decided to sell off some of this stuff locally to see how easy that would be. I live in a smaller community so I didn't expect much interest but I was wrong. I mainly posted the 'hard to sell' (at least I thought) stuff and was able to sell quite a bit. Sold off almost all the adventure, castle, city and technic sets at near average eBay prices which was great. I didn't post the pirates, ninja or star wars stuff but ended up selling a few of the smaller star wars stuff to people that just happened to come by and wanted them. Anyways, still would like to sell the rest. I will update the list with what is left in a few days and see if anyone else is interested. Probably about 70ish sets left I think so way less to ship and will probably part out themes at this point but would still prefer to sell it as a lot.

gregpj
Folks, there's no selling on the forums. Please refrain from outright asking someone to make an offer or this thread will get locked (I think we've been pretty lenient on this... there is always a way to word things in such a way as to make it obvious you'd like to get rid of it in one big lot). Brick Classifieds exists for a reason.
Zelgazra
I'm sure what he meant to type was "If you like anything in this list please send me a private message!".
