Zender
I purchased a large bulk lot of random lego from a family a few months ago and myself and kids have been working on piecing together everything and taking inventory of it all. So far we have account for about 80 sets that are complete and probably around another 20 or more that are missing 1 - 8 parts max. All sets are from 1998 to 2005 approx. I was looking up the average used value here on brickpicker for each set and was considering selling them in bulk if possible for about 30 - 40% off the avg used value. Most sets come with instructions (all the big ones do) but no boxes. Condition is pretty good but some sets have a little wear from play. All sets except a couple have all minifigs accounted for as well. Here is a quick list of sets (some dups) but I have many to account for. All off these are complete except 2 (gungan sub and rock raider HQ missing 1 piece each): 5988, 5948, 6280, 6083-2, 6249, 4980, 4980, 2154, 3053, 7190, 7151, 7151, 7155, 7155, 7111, 7111, 7111, 4910, 8503, 7144, 6150, 1787, 7141, 5958, 6545, 7130, 7130, 7131, 7127, 7127, 2160, 6140, 4940, 6836, 6836, 6836, 6829, 6829, 6818, 6818, 6818, 6915, 1821, 7101, 7101, 7110, 7121, 6546, 6625, 6599, 6515, 6515, 6498, 4920, 2995, 5938, 6135, 5928, 2153, 6250, 4559, 7161, 5978, 6093, 6097, 3051, 4589 6907,6581, 6982, 4990, 3899, 5920, 5920, 6748, 1791, 6026, 6716 Some gems in there like Millenium Falcon and Cargo Train and some castles and pirate ships. Like I said there a lot more I haven't account for yet like a large King's Castle, Space with a large place with contours. Still working on them. Not sure how to value this in bulk or should I just sell it set by set? I live in BC, Canada so shipping is expensive here as it is a TON of space and heavy for it all. Thoughts? Suggestions? I never sold any loose sets like this
terrymc4677
I would sell the more desirable / expensive sets individually and the rest in lots based on theme. i have purchased several used lots like this and selling this way seems to bring the most profit while minimizing the amount of time selling. If you got the lot at a good buy in then you have some room to sell the lots at a discounted, but still profitable price, to make them move. Good luck!
Zender
Grouping them might be worth while as this is a pretty big lot and I doubt there is a single buyer out there. I can't even think of how I would ship all this lol.

You may have to wait to find the right buyer(s), but they will sell. This is exactly how I sold my way through the lot I'm finishing up on which was in the vicinity of 125 sets. How did you go about finding buyers? Bricklink? Ebay? Should I use the Brick Classifieds here? My main issue is I don't want to deal with so much shipping. Does anyone have any ideas on what you think this lot would be worth? Not even sure how to price 'groups' of sets.
Zender
Ok I just inventoried this set: http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/set.cfm?set=2996-1 What is up with the price???
vincevaughn
2996 isn't being logged right it looks like or its being confused with similar numbered sets. Looking at sold listings the last one to sell was on sep 28 for 10 bucks plus shipping, which is much more in line where i would think it would fall. Almost all of my sales have been on ebay. I have had them listed on CL and BC, but 95%+ of the sales have been on ebay. Some sold right away, some took longer. I would find individual sales of the sets, mark it down a bit for saving me on shipping, and list.

You'll probably have more luck selling this type of stuff online via ebay/amazon/BC. I find a lot of the older stuff have a much more limited market. So trying to sell locally eliminates literally millions of people. I usually sell this stuff auction style if i don't really know what it's worth (but no free shipping in case you get boned :P). I buy tons of ziplock bags from Walmart and spend a day or so boxing, labeling, taking pictures of everything and then listing it throughout the coming weeks. My best case scenario would be to sell the entire lot to another reseller. I will organize it all better and the maybe post back on the forums here to see if anyone wants to buy it from me in bulk and then do what others have quoted to do above. I am sure a deal could be worked out that would be profitable for both sides as I am not looking to make much as most of the fun was sorting and building it all with the kids.
Zender
Ok I am done sorting and inventorying the sets completely. 115 sets total. Themes are: Star Wars, Adventurers, Rock Raiders, Town, Pirate, Ninja, Western, Castle, Space, Aquazone, Technic, Train, Time Cruisers, Sports I would like to see if someone in the Brickpicker community would like to buy it first before checking other routes. I very flexible on price as I know people will want to resell and shipping will be expensive I am sure. It is currently taking up two 100L+ storage containers. All sets are in storage bags and labelled. Is there a place I should post the entire inventory or is this the appropriate forum section? If anyone wants any info post here or send me a private message. Thanks
jdmpartz
I would suggest... 1. Take ALOT of pictures 2. Post the lot up on https://www.brickclassifieds.com/ 3. Wait for alot of emails asking about sets, etc. Make sure your description is clear 4. Get paid, ship the items. 5. Be Happy! You should be able to move that amount pretty easy around here, if the price is right. Hope that helps Edited November 22, 2015 by jdmpartz
Zender
1. Been building sets for over almost 3 months and now all in bags so not sure I can take pics anymore except for the bags and maybe pull out the minifigs. 2. That was the place I was thinking of posting first. 3. Ya I expect as much. 4. Want to sell it all at once if possible so shipping will be a lot lol. 5. Hopefully. It's been fun figuring out all the sets and stuff with my kids but it has to go. We have too much lego already and this was the first large bulk buy I have ever done and probably will not go trough it again as it is just so much work. I thought we would have it all done in a couple of weeks max... I was way off. 100's of hours later... The sorting alone was 2 weeks. Zender
Here is a list of all the stuff completely inventoried now if anyone is interested. I was hoping to sell it in Canada because of shipping costs but will sell it to someone in the US and ship however is best. All sets are in zip lock storage bags and labelled. All sets are used except one. The newer the sets, the better the instructions conditions etc. Kids owned these but I can tell as they got older and bought Star Wars stuff they took real good care of them. Here is a complete list of all the sets by theme and whether complete, instructions included, etc. (Complete to me, means every part listed for the set on Bricklink but none of the extra parts). Some of the older instructions are pretty beaten up but still in book form. Zender
FYI, more information available in the Canada forums as I am looking for a Canadian buyer because I think shipping to the US will be cost prohibitive. Answered many of the common questions I have received. http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/15294-large-bulk-lot-sets/
