Ed Mack Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 For all of you in south central NJ and the Philly suburbs, a new LEGO store will be opening in the Cherry Hill Mall. Finally I get a LEGO store 20 minutes from my house. Might look to get a job there! 3 Quote
RedBaron Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Last I saw, they were looking for an assistant manager. Quote

Grynn Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 You should work out a position with pay on commission... Quote

jaisonline Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Funny thing is that some of us will walk by one another w/o even knowing who is who. Quote
RedBaron Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 (edited) My mother lives 30 minutes from Cherry Hill so I was planning on being there, but the Brick Universe Convention got in the way. Very disappointed Lego announced the grand opening weekend without much notice ahead of time. I hope there will be more grand openings next year since the TSA destroyed the promotional Lego store set I got from the opening I went to earlier this year. Arrgh! psusyntar Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Any recommendations for those who have done a grand opening in the past as to how early to arrive in order to get one of the giveaway sets? Current plan is to be there about an hour before the store opens. Quote
LJD1019 Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I am also planning on being there on Saturday to get a store set. Anyone know what time the mall opens vs. what time the store opens? Quote
RedBaron Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Most mall stores open at 10am. Plan on being there about an hour prior to opening. The idea is to be part of the first group to go in. The line will grow quickly, but if you are in the first 50 or 60 you will be fine. The line to check out will form immediately. If you are going with a friend, you can get in line first and you or your friend can get the set you want to buy. With a larger purchase required to get the free set, they will last longer in the day, not all day, but probably at least into the early afternoon. There are lots of parents there with their kids who don't know anything about the free set, and don't want to spend the $100 to get one. Quote
2x4 Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Trying to figure out how to be there. I'll be finishing work around 10 am that morning... Quote
gregpj Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 When my local store opened up this past summer they opened the mall doors early and people were there 2 hours before... Lineup really started to grow around 1 hour before opening. They also had 400 grand opening giveaway sets but they were allowing people in line to make anywhere from 2-6 purchases to get multiple sets. Manager was out schmoozing with the crowd in line giving away a polybag and didn't realize it. I'm figuring we were approximately group #150 in line but there was 2x as many people behind me as in front when the store finally opened. I doubt everyone got a grand opening set! Quote
LJD1019 Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I wonder if they would let me purchase a gift card for $100.00 and get the promo set. Not that interested in dealing with the crowd picking out sets. Quote
Jondog21 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 So who is there this morning? What does the line look like? I toyed with the idea of driving up there from Virginia, but I just didn't have the time. Quote
dcdfan Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Do you see any other brick pickers? They'll be easy to spot, they'll have mustaches & glasses. Some with fake noses... 3 Quote
LJD1019 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 It is entertaining watching the parents come in thinking they can go right in the door. Then security showes them the line and their faces drop. Quote
2x4 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 It's kind of sad. I'm not sure they'll have anything left tomorrow. This is an absolutely insane line. The security guards have been instructed to not let anyone else in line. Quote
LJD1019 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Just wait to get in line to check out Quote
