Jeff Mack Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 For those of you that might want to pick up one super cool LEGO set, that is going to be retired (Even said so by LEGO themselves), I would recommend trying to pick them up at retail price from one of these retailers below. You can't get it on LEGO S@H anymore, so before you regret missing out on this set, pick one up now.BUY FROM TARGET FOR $199.99 with FREE SHIPPINGGrab them from eBay from two vendors, both $199 with Free Shipping and Buy it Now!eBay Item #1 eBay Item #2SOLD OUT at Walmart, LEGO Shop and Barnes and Noble Quote
Ed Mack Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Very cool set. These large power function Technic sets do quite well in the secondary market. Quote
Damnation666 Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 I have a few of these but found a listing for $189.99 with free shipping. It's a very cool set. I have been watching some of these listings of sets that are set to be going EOL. There are still a handful at retail price, but I would expect many to be at that price for long. redeemed763 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 This set was never talked about much, but I can't seem to lay my hands on it NIB for less than $300, and it only went EOL 3 months ago. They don't go used for less than 20% over retail, and that is a bargain for such an amazing set. This one really was a gem, having 4 motors, two IR controllers, 4 linear actuators and the ability to have full functionality of the drive and bucket arm via RC, personally, I would much rather have this one than the 4x4 crawler. You don't need to look any further than this set to see if technic can perform on the secondary market. I expect that the unimog will do every bit as well when it goes. Quote
Rich B Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Yep this set is doing really well! I wish I had more than just one of them. These larger technic sets are great investments! Quote
thirsty Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 The chart on this set is epic. Probably the best looking chart out of anything I am following, only one better is Hogwart's Castle. Looks like bitcoins chart back when bitcoin was a couple bucks. Or gold when it was $250 back a decade ago. Winnarz!!! Quote
Rich B Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 8109 which recently EOL'd is doing great as well. Retail was $100 and MISB 8109's are selling for $150-170 already on eBay. Quote

stephen_rockefeller Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I don't think I really get it either..... Quote

I have 4 of these 3 new 1 used, its a great set. I really enjoyed the build. The motors are not as powerful as the motorized bulldozer, still a quality set and great fun chasing the cats around the house with :) Quote
TheDarkness Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I am watching this one very carefully. It was one of my first larger purchases and have been sitting on them for a few years now. I wish I had more though (can say that about a lot of things) Quote
thirsty Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 do you invest in bitcoin? Its lack of intrinsic value (IMO) has kept me away. No but I wish I did. Especially back when it was a whole dollar. I won't make the same mistake with 8043. I doubt it will move 9000% but should double in short order. There are a half dozen on TRU shelves in the area. The first 20% off Technic sale that pops up and those and maybe the 8070's will be sold to yours truly in short order. Quote
neoconagenda Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Placing value on an Ultimate 8043 I have the 8043 and the Ultimate MOD for it as well. My question is when placing a value on the set for resale do you strip it down to the base set and sell off the MOD parts separately, or try to sell the set as a MOD. Quote
neoconagenda Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Thanks! The next question is do I just add up the cost of the MOD parts (used value) and add that to the set value, or is there a market value for popular MODS? Quote
