for those of you that have ordered 32 CMFs from LEGO Shop at Home, how was your distribution of figures?  every landed a complete set?  did you get a lot more of a particular figure then the rest?  just contemplating on ordering 32 from LEGO Shop at Home ...

10 monster rockers, 10 zombie pirates, 7 crazy scientists, 1 spectre, 2 gargoyles!

:)

Just kidding... but if I can't smoosh.. why bother.  It truly is an art.

So I finally sat down and smooshed the 41 figs I picked up the other night. Good distribution, especially for loose packs, but someone must have smooshed ahead of me. I found a Tiger Woman with a sharpie marking on the back. Also, no banshees in the whole lot. :(

Well the race to the bottom has begun..  Personally, I had a string of luck hit me, and I knew this had a limited opportunity to make some cash on these.  And that ship is now sailing off into the sunset, unless you just want to make 5.00 to10.00 on a complete set, which to me is not worth it.  Interestingly, those that flipped over the last few weeks (myself included here) made anywhere between 30 to 45.00 (or more) profit, from rrp by selling above 120.  I managed to blow out 4 sets above that price point, and 2 below that price point.   To put that into perspective, very few mini figure lines hit that number a few years after retirement!  Simpsons series 1 still hasn't reached that number.  The lego movie just began to hit that point, and that's been retired for over a year now.

In all, I managed to sell 6 sets over the last two weeks.  I have four remaining, and a few of the 3 per case figs, and now I think i'm just going to store them for next halloween, unless these become pretty scarce in the next few weeks.  At this point, these extra sets are just pure gravy, and more or less play money, because the flips paid for them outright.  But, i'm done with these and won't be buying anymore .. I thought about 2 more cases, but I think there is going to be a lot of these on the market in the next few weeks, and so margins will get really thin to the point where it's not worth it.

I will say this about minifigures, you have to be selective.  If you go in buying 60, and you score 10 figures that are just 5 or 4 per case, you thin your margins big time.  At that point, it's really not worth it to have 2 complete sets, but 6 zombie pirates, and 7 crazy scientists with a scattering of 4 per case figures on hand.  It's better to have 7 tiger girls, 9 banshees, and have the allotted 5 per cases stuck in complete sets.  Your margins will be thin if you don't do it that way.  You have to factor those 5 per case figures into your overall sales and so what you have in your inventory is key!..  So smooshing is an artform that needs to be honed in because it can save you time and money.  The quicker and faster you are at it the better.  I know a lot frown on it, but ohh well - it's a game.

I'm sure this comes up a lot in QFLL discussions, but isn't there concern someone crazy enough to pay $20 for a minifig will return it after finding one for $3.99 on the shelf the following week? If they were truly sold out, that's one thing, but maybe I'm not risky enough for the QF model you guys are mastering. ;)

I've never had it happen. My guess is that the people willing to pay $20 for a minifig are not the same people that smoosh packages in stores.

Yeah, i've never had it happen either.  Most of the people I sell to I can tell are wealthy, or more affluent by the areas i'm shipping them to.  Granted, there's always that risk, but sometimes no risk = no reward.  Plus, i've noticed there are some resellers that just sit at the bottom with the same amount of inventory they've had for weeks, while others come in and out that obviously seem like more reputable sellers.  I've seen cases where buyers obviously skip most of the lowballers and go right to those that might be higher priced, but have complete sets, still in the package, aren't removing the codes, seals, black bases, etc, even if they claim "it's truly new".  It matters to some.

Nope, the nice lady at my TRU handed me a sealed case (60) today...and the LEGO box it came in.

Limit 4 is bs though.

Scroll back and see my post where I finally found some at a Target and they limited me to 2 per customer.  I returned to that same Target the next day looking for something else and all 100+ S14 were gone.  I doubt 50 people grabbed 2.  More like 1 guy grabbed all 100+ and skirted the manager.

So far the hardest to "find" one has been the Grotesque/Gargoyle.  Somebody around me must be building an army - doesn't help they can be found in 2 seconds.

Personally I was disappointed with Squarefoot.  Catwoman was my fav before seeing her and after getting her I am in love with her smirk.

This is why I keep multiple disguises in my car.

Agree about Squarefoot...the camera just seems trite. Also found Zombie Pirate forgettable, Super easy to find while smooshing due to all the unique elements, but my Imperial Flagship sailors find him annoying. I DO have a couple grotesques adorning my laptop to ward off evil emai-  ...er, sprirts. Seems to be working so far, but the stupid ones are still getting through.

I hate this disparity among Target stores, it seems (to me) that if one retailer has an item to sell and I have the means and will to purchase it, then we have already struck a deal. I SHOULD be able to clean out the whole store if AMEX approves the transaction.

I've not yet run into the rationing situation. Went to a target slightly out of my way today, they must have had about two full cases worth on their display racks. None of my local targets put out boxes. :(

Did a little "stand and smoosh" found what I needed. I'm not buying more unless I start selling everything like crazy all of a sudden, and by then, they'll probably be gone.
