kingcars Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 I know I'm the oddball (as usual) but... Definitely Technic for me. Regular LEGO System sets really don't appeal to me often since I've gotten older. I love the intricate mechanics put into sets like the Unimog (can't wait to build!) and some of the engineering thought put into them is a marvel. The only LEGO System sets I plan to get are the UCS Red Five X-Wing, Haunted House, and Sopwith Camel. The rest of my purchases will be Technic . Quote
scottjs Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 LotR/Hobbit and Castle for me personally. Castle was my favorite growing up and since coming out of my dark age (TMNT had me start looking at Lego again, however I acquired the theme after quite a few LotR/Hobbit/Castle purchases) I've started to go a little crazy with LotR/Hobbit purchases. Although I did dip my toes into Star Wars with a B-Wing on the weekend and I have a feeling that is a purchase that is going to start something my wallet will soon not forget. On a side note is it just me or does Star Wars seem like an expensive theme? Quote
Maverick2k1 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Personally Star Wars is what brought me out of my dark ages and really the only sets that are a must have for my collection. I think it's evident that Star Wars is the best theme simply by looking at the time and money lego invests into it! UCS Star Wars sets--no comparison for me. I have branched out into collecting modulars/LOTR though. 1 Quote
Spartikis Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Modular buildings/City is my favorite theme to display but Castles/LOTR is my favorite theme to actually play and build with. Quote
Grolim Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Looking at this thread on peoples favorite theme got me thinking what would be peoples favourite them for investing? So what say you? Where do you like to spend your investment capital? What theme do you think has the best future potential? (I've kept the categories close to the other poll for comparisons sake) Also no room for Indiana Jones so just post that if it's your vote. Quote
Etan Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Star wars just because they have been and will always be around. Quote
odysea11 Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Town, Large Scale Models, and Seasonal are perennial winners. Quote
BigEZ96 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 LOTR is a sure fire winner and original Star Wars trilogy always do well. Quote
Rich B Posted May 24, 2013 Author Posted May 24, 2013 I love city and train stuff................and others will always love City sets, and trains have a huge following! Quote
TheOrcKing Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 No one voted for Bionicle?!? That is a little surprising. Where the heck is Blackjack when you need him?! :cheese: Quote
Grolim Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Seems like the usual suspects are doing well in this poll as well. Good to see some friends love. Interesting that the results bear little correlation to current CAGR by theme averages. Quote
brickmaster Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Which of these lego sets do you like the best. This makes no sense Quote
TheOrcKing Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Between the two polls, more people enjoy the Castle related themes than invest in them, and City seems to be considered a better investment than Castle. Quote
dunkers97 Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Sorry I messed up. Happens to the best of us. if you mean which theme I'de definitely go with star wars! Quote
face Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 What is TMNT doing on that list? I just threw some different sets out their plus ones I liked.:D Quote
Jeff Mack Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 I just threw some different sets out their plus ones I liked. The items in your poll are "themes", sets are in themes. If you were looking for answers on members favorite sets, then you would list them out like 10188 Death Star 10123 Cloud City 10185 Green Grocer etc etc etc Just helping you for future posts... Quote
