It boggles my mind that LEGO can waste time and resources hunting down people who purchase 'too much' of their product, but have none of either when it comes to absolute counterfeiting of same product.  The prior boosts the company's sales while the latter is nothing more than stealing millions of dollars worth of research, development, and sales.

Wait until LEGO open factories in China... the counterfeit will be 99.9% identical to the real thing when the Chinese factories get a hold of the official molds and the same source for PVC materials and paint!

My 7 year old son and I built the knockoff last night.  I don't have a genuine set to photograph next to it (we're saving ours), but the fake appears to be a brick-for-brick copy of the original.  The manuals have the exact same illustrations, step-for-step, as the genuine Lego manuals. The only real differences are in color variations, and fit-and-finish issues. All the while we built it, my son and I commented on how, "This sure ain't Lego." The colors are less vibrant, you'd often find pieces where a stud or two had a recessed "dimple" in the top surface, due to the mold not being fully "packed out", some parts had sprue marks or mold flash (see back of raptors neck in last photo). Our green raptor had some white scratches on the left side of his head. Parts just didn't fit together as perfectly as Lego - usually the parts were too "loose" - some parts when stacked together would just fall apart if inverted.  These fit problems cause the whole design to suffer in "playability". For example, the four-wheeled ATV will roll, but only if you push it firmly... it's like it has it's "parking brake" on. It won't roll of it's own momentum.  The "feeding tower / falling platform" has a similar problem. You can move the prop out of the way, but the platform won't drop. You have to push it down manually.  But all of this should be no surprise to anyone who has built a Lego "look-a-like" before.  My son said, "This is just like the Legos you can buy at the Dollar Store."  But despite all of our griping, and eye-rolling, when we were done, my son said, "I like it... can we keep it?"  I told him yes... only if we keep it separate from all of your real Lego... like... out in the garage. He agreed.

Your son is wise beyond his years. ;)

Question - do the wheels have any printing on the sides like LEGO?

Just some mold numbers like "3311 10", "3311 11", "3311 15", etc.

Thanks... some of the real LEGO tires, and I believe the ones in this set, have more printed on them. Just another way to spot fakes... Someone posted a link to a fake RE set the other day and it appeared the tires had some very basic printing on them which matches more what you typed than what I see on this tire...

try living in Australia with the over saturation of knock-offs coming from China.

it's a smart move by TLG though. people will become mindful of buying online from places like amazon, ebay and craigslist meaning more shop @ home sales!

I disagree. How can they get more orders for a set they no longer sell...

I assume that it wouldn't be any different in the other regions. Seems to be very "cultural" markets and cheap vending machines that i've seen the "Offical" knock offs at.

Alright, Slave 1 did get a lot of good accolades.  But, if you read the Ghostbusters thread, the Batcave set from this year, the pattern is mostly the same.  I personally, just find it amusing that they all mostly follow this pattern.  I'm just waiting for the Big Ben and Disney Princess Castle to get their first image to further test my theory so that it can become a law.

Actually, for JW sets, everyone started with excitement, then everyone stocked up on the sets, then more excitement of quick flips, then disappointment when LEGO continue to make the sets in 2016* :P

*Except for RE where most bemoaned the fact they flipped it for $5 profit where they can make $15 by holding a few months more :P

:D

Can't win them all, all the time!

I think you can make $15.00 right now on RE's... the rest will have to wait until 2018 to maybe get that price.  That is one area of my closet I look at with a little scorn.  But, over time, should be fine..

Current price at the lower end is 83 + 5.50 shipping.  Around an 18.00 fee after the transaction, plus whatever shipping costs depending where it's sent.  Price of these cost around 42 after tax.  83-18-42 = 23.00.  A little higher than 15, but not 40.

Never assume to know what someone's buy in is.

Better yet, just let Seller Central do the talking.  Buy Box is currently $99.95.  Can't believe you made me look it up.
If your average buy-in was even $35 you're doing well.

April 26, 2016 Order Payment   XXX  LEGO Jurassic Park Jurassic World Raptor...  $99.79   $0.00   Fee $18.60  = Payment = $79.25

Raptor Escapes went on discount?  Don't remember that occurring back then.  35 buy-in?  Ok, maybe .05% of raptor escapes could have been found for that price, but to proclaim that as the average is a misnomer.  I also dont believe in the buy-box that much.  Prime example has been the at-ats. The lower end outsells the buy box, and changes much more rapidly.

Everyone should have an agenda. ;)

At the very least, every meeting should have an agenda.  I boycott meetings that don't.

If at this point you need someone to explain to you how to get things discounted without them "going on discount" then I'm going to suggest you're in the wrong business.  But please, carry on.

I guess, if you use the constantly low 3% raise coupons at walmart, or you were there to buy at 2XVIP when it was available briefly last october that could count, or if you used vip points that could count.  My bad so there are some probabilities, but I don't consider that a true discount.  True discounts are when stores clearance the item, not because you spent x amount to accumulate points to get it lower.  I was around long enough during the raptor escape period and if there was one set that didn't get a discount, that was it.  So, no need to try and talk down to me.  It's one thing if we were discussing non-exclusive run of the mill sets, but this one was not.

Now back to this thread, those waiting for the day when this set drops to 180.00, well good luck with that.  Other than if you accumulate VIP points to get it at that price point, you'll be waiting a while.  EV is another case in point.  Whose seen that one discounted under 200?  Anyone anyone?

Yes, some Wal-Marts clearanced them for $30 and $19, but it's pretty clear for those resellers who don't pay sales tax they are getting at least $40 profit for their Raptor Escapes right now via FBA.  Yes, I was able to also get Raptor Escapes for $30, but it doesn't change the math for the folks reselling these on Amazon.
