Unless an occasional fluke, I think the CMF world of common vs rare would be rocked if it weren't consistent. That or buyers might be getting wrong minifigs by mal-smooshing.

Hi guys, sorry, super late to the thread but I saw that these were labeled "limited edition" and all the shops (in Sydney aust) I have asked and they say that it was "one drop" and they are all sold out of course.

What would "limited edition" in LEGO's sense imply? Would it mean they wouldn't release another wave of the same figures?

Like all the collectible minifigures, they're available for a limited time. They claimed in the beginning that minifigures released in every series are unique, so there should never be the same exact version of any of the characters released again.

Lego must of paid Disney a pretty penny in license fees. This series of CMF will be available for Christmas and with the rumor bigger/UCS Cinderella Castle. There will be many more drops from now till December.

I keep seeing this debate about the distribution. Ursala and Maleficent being the rarest. Even if it's an even distribution, I think the women will be the most sought after. Simply because the Disney princess line runs in dolls. This may be the only chance to get Ariel as a true minifig. I could be mistaken, but I think she has only appeared in Duplo and doll form. We likely will not see her in this form again.

Though, that may make the princes valuable too. As they'll probably make an Aladdin doll, before they make another Aladdin minifig.

Just my thoughts as I'm shifting from flipping mode, to sitting mode.

Understood. There will not be the exact same version released again but just wondering if there will be another batch or two shipped out of this release. Hard to think that LEGO seeing that it was such a hit that they wouldn't ship out more to the shop outlets and just let resellers/investors make all the profit I guess.

Well so much for limited edition. Limited to what? How many they can sell?

Seems my first venture into minifig land is not turning out as good as I'd hoped.

The soccer series was a hit and Lego still cut their retail lives short w/o more production.  Granted, Lego prob had more faith in the Disney series so more inventory was produced.  I doubt though they would produced more than originally planned if the next CMF series are being made.  Who knows though...

I will not be surprised to see these till next Spring until Series 2 is out. I believe The Simpsons CMF had a 9-12 months shelve life. The bottom line is this, Lego is a business. If it a product is selling, keep pumping them out. And plus, it takes them time from design to production to distribution on new products. I think it's reasonable to see 9-12 months shelve life.

Much smaller market though in comparison to Disney that is a worldwide brand and much larger fan base. But I do agree with the short supply despite high sales volume. But I am sure Lego's original intention was to be truly limited, otherwise why only make figures for one team only?

These completely disappeared from  LEGO Shop at Home Australia a few weeks back. No toos or backorders accepted. Just gone.

This something that has happened before? I have not seen it myself .

The Minifigures subsection in the Dutch Lego LEGO Shop at Home:

Series 15 is on sale with a 30% discount. There's no trace of the German Football team CMF (71014, officially retired) nor the Disney CMF (71012). I assume the Series 15 is on sale because there's still too much stock of it left, after people spent their money first on both 71012 and 71014 series. While Series 16 is coming in September which is a mere 2 months away already.

Will the Disney CMF (series 1?) become available again? My gut feeling says no. But in this business I'm still quite inexperienced, so I could be wrong.   We'll just have to wait and see....

I foolishly bought 5 more complete sets, when I was adamant I wasn't going to buy anymore, but reading this site convinced me to get some more.  Anyway, back in late April, I scored 2 cases of these right before the official release date, and then over a 2 week period, I blew out 10 complete sets and made decent profit on them.  I sold some sets for 180 during the initial gold rush, but then prices dropped quickly, but were in the 150 range for a few days (still very good profit), before going lower to where they hovered around 120 for quite some time.  Now, they are down to about 105 before fees, and I have to say it's just average times right now, because they are not moving like they once were, and the better time to sell these was during the first 2 weeks of release.  I sold one of the 5 sets this past week and made a whopping 9.00 after fees/shipping/packaging costs, and plan on just holding the other 4, but I'm thinking it's going to be a while before these are profitable again (be nice to see them hit 180 again).  

 The good days have definitely slowed.  Reminds me very much of Series 14 when early on it was incredibly great but as time wore on, the interest waned, and too many people jumped in.  I think the same has happened to the Disney Figures.  I hear a lot of people convinced these are going to be extremely profitable, but i'm not convinced.  Same thing was said about Simpsons series 1, and that hasn't really panned out and they have been retired for some time.  A lot of the previous minifigures I wouldn't call "extremely profitable either"..  While some figure MAY net you 2x, a majority of these will hover around the 30% range for quite some time.  So, I think a lot of people are overstating these as investments.

Disney is a bit complicated because of their vault system. Which I'm not sure how they implement it these days with the Internet, but still they're wise (or they use to be) with what characters and movies are available for sale and for how long.

They may put a halt on production of certain princess and movie sets, for years. And this would certainly increase the value of those particular minifigs.

So the non-movie characters would be the worst for investment most likely (Donald, daisy, Mickey, etc.), as they will get the most reproduction. Maybe in different outfits, like Sombrero Donald or Mortimer.

My TRU, that is normally full of them, was surprisingly sparse today. They sold more than 50 in the last week? I'm thinking another BPer is on my turf. That explains the missing hydra smash.

Then again people don't spend 2k a night to sleep at a place called Simpson World, so I wouldn't say the 2 are comparable

We shall see, but i've been playing the minifigure game for a while now, and the same downward cycle pattern is happening with this series as it has with the other ones, even if they are supposedly scarce.  Granted, this is a decent licensed theme, and the only other one we can compare it to is the simpsons.  Other than series 10 and the first 2 series, a complete set of minifigures from many of the series are below the 150 mark years after retirement.  I guess, my overall point is, that minifigures are not as great money makers as people here are wanting to believe.  I have yet to see this wave hit the 180 mark again, and I doubt it does anytime soon in the next few years either.

Hi guys. I'm looking to pick-up some plastic storage cases suitable for stowing my personal CMF series collection and dimensions characters. Below I've included a sample picture of what I'm looking to purchase. There's a bazillion available on Amazon, but it's hard to get a good feel for quality and size from the listings. If anyone has found a good product they recommend, could you please provide me a link?

1. color is largely irrelevant, but clear works

well.

2. adjustable compartments are a plus. Should hold 16 to 18+ mini-figures without issue.

3. price of less than $5-$7 per unit is the sweet spot

4. any conatiners that stack/lock together would make an added bonus.
