MinifiguresPlus "sold out" of their initial availability of sealed cases.  They may open up a second round of purchases, but you'll have to sit tight for now.

Got it, thanks. I'll be following closely for the second round since I missed out on the first batch. How is it done with MinifiguresPlus? Though eBay or straight up Paypal? I assume they'll post here and let us know?

So another acquaintance of mine that is pretty adept at minifigure feeling told me he had a case with two maleficent and hooks. I stand corrected and apologize for dismissing the notion. I wonder if this release has had QC issues or if more people are just reporting it since its such a popular release.

no worries - i scoffed at this notion myself when i read the first observations until i smooshed my own aberrant case .  never had that happen before.   wish i had kept the cases to see if there was a packing date that was associated.  interesting that it seems that maleficent may be getting shorted a little extra as this is the one i was missing one on as well.  could make for an extra premium on that one in the future.

I purchased my sealed case from Target. Use the target inventory tracker to see how much inventory your local stores have. If they show several hundred then odds are decent that they may have a sealed case in the back. Give the dcpi to an employee and they can dig one out of the back room for you. Being polite goes a long way in improving your chances. Good luck!

The problem I've had with this strategy is the shared DPCI.  I've seen 900+ in stock before and they come back and say they had cases of Simpsons, series 14 and/or 15.  They never seem to have the one I want.

I had this happen to me with series 14.  Only got 2 werewolves, and instead got 4 skeleton guys.

As for comments about "starting rumors".  I appologize, i'm not trying to start rumors, i'm just speculating that things are about to get really tight on these profit wise for most people that are not buying these in massive bulk so that the sheer volume can net them a profit.  So, small timers that are only getting 4 to 5 cases will have some trouble moving them at a profit starting about now, until far into the future, and that's because of the amount of cases that will soon flood the aftermarket.  I've just seen it happen way too many times now.  That's why hobbiests like myself that occasionally sell, got to sell out now, instead of later.  Over the last 3 years, i'd say the best sets for investment were only lego movie and the mr gold series.  I speculate that this series will be heavily released.

it will be one of the top performing minifigure series of all time.  one can only hope those big disney minifigure heads and complex large pieces lead to a short production life.

There is a limit.  They will not sell you 60.

AFAIK you can't buy a sealed case from the Lego Store. They tend to put limits on everything including minifigs.

Yes, just purchased some at Meijer today.  I was honestly surprised to even see them there this early.  However, I found the display case sitting sideways in the regular lego aisle mixed in with other sets and no shelf tag.  There were only about 10 bags left.  I have never seen minifigs in the lego aisle here as they are always in a shelf bin on the end cap of an aisle.  There were also two empty cardboard boxes (that the sealed display case ships in) sitting on the shelf as well which were labeled Disney minifigures/Do not open until May 1st.  I was just there on Friday evening and they were no where to be found.  Interesting how in a day or so these magically appear, but only 10 out of 120 are left.  On top of that every popular character was missing (ursula, maleficent, mickey/minnie, donald/daisy, etc.).  I picked up a few of the less desirable characters in an attempt to complete my set, but still need Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Alien.

Haven't found any at my local Meijer but like you I usually have found the figs in the end baskets.

Any differences between original alien and new alien? Also buzz compared to old buzz is interesting. I prefer the old head, and Amazon prices seem to show a large differential between old and new buzz, but will they even out over time or will the older buzz always have the edge since it was the first and due to the more complex head mold?

The eye balls are slightly different on the new alien and the print on torso is more detailed.
