IMDeus Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Seeing as we got a new Ferris wheel and that the Creator Head loves carnivals..... I wanted to get a Grand Carousel but the thought that a new one may be possible makes me think I should wait. Quote
bricketycricket Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Even if they did, I would imagine it would be smaller and/or less ornate. The original GC was like ~3300 pieces which would cost $300-$350 USD and they seem to be more attached to the $200 price point for most sets these days. Quote
Grolim Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 It will depend on the popularity of the Ferris wheel and Fairground Mixer. Outward signs are they are being well received. But yeah like bricketycricket said, the size would most likely be a lot smaller. I'd see them going all brick as well so not the large tent material bits. it would be crying out for power functions inclusion, but I guess they could do they same as they did with the Ferris wheel and have it compatible but not included. Quote
jaisonline Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Good question. With the "success" of the mixer and Ferris wheel, I think another Carousal is def possible. Like others stated, I doubt it will be to the scale of 10196 (which was kinda unpopular during it's retail life for various reasons). If anything, a refresh would prob look like the one included in the winter village market set (but larger). Even if Lego released another one even w/o PF, I hope it contains a sound brick. Quote
@rtisan Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Sure, though if they did (which is certainly possible) it would possibly be a smaller version ($150-$200USD) that can fit in the same range as the Ferris Wheel and Mixer. That would make sense as opposed to releasing a larger version that is dis-proportional to the other two. Assuming of course they continue to expand on this Fairground theme, which would be awesome. Ideally many of use I`m sure would love to see Bumper Cars first, but that`s hoping. Quote
tacsniper Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Or roller coaster. They can awl tracks like they do with train tracks :D Quote
Popular Post Alpinemaps Posted June 2, 2015 Popular Post Posted June 2, 2015 I've had this idea for awhile now, and wanted to share it all with you. (Yes, I know there's already a thread speculating about a new carousel, but maybe we can put all of those types of threads into here?) There's been talk that, with the addition of the Ferris Wheel, to go along with the Fairground Mixer, that LEGO is starting a fairground theme. And they may very well be. But I'd like to suggest that there's already a pretty robust "secret" fairground theme going - you just have to know where to look. So, what I'd like to do share some ideas for either MOC'ing your own fairground, or bundling items together to help promote a fairground theme for your sales. 1. 10224 Fairground Mixer Of course, the first in the potentially new line of fairground pieces. 2. 10247 Ferris Wheel The 2015 release. This is what has us excited that there is an "official" fairground or "summer destination" theme (similar to the Winter Village?) 3. 6851 Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape Although it's just a building facade, the Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape offers, well, a funhouse that could be added to any fairground. Remove the Batman minifigs and the Joker markings, and this looks like any other funhouse at any other fairground. Or keep the Joker markings, and turn your fairground into the Gotham City Fairground. 4. 76035 Jokerland Jokerland, a 2015 entry, has all the hallmarks of a fairground, between the little duck Ferris Wheel, the bouncing ride, the dunk tank, and the high-wire show. Again, theme it without the Batman theme, and you'll be fine. Add the Batman theme, and you've got your Gotham City Fairgrounds really moving now.5. 70804 Ice Cream Truck From the LEGO Movie, this little truck is perfect as a food truck. And who doesn't want ice cream when they go to the fair? 6. 10235 Winter Village Market Yes, it's Winter themed. But, you have a small carousel, three food stands, and carnival game. You would have to do some retheming/changing of colors a little bit to bring this into more of a summer carnival/fairground feel. 7. 40078 Hot Dog Stand Gotta have a hot dog stand at the fair. 8. 40108 Balloon Cart Gotta buy your balloons at the fair, too. 9. 30314 Go-Kart Racer Pick up a few of these little racers, and you can create a small go-kart track at the fair. Whether it's a kiddie ride version, or one for the adult, it's bound to be fun. Throw in a road base plate to give it even more of a racing feel. 10. 30303 The Joker Bumper Car Bumper cars. What fair doesn't have bumper cars? Extremely hard to find (as of June 2015), but if you can get this/build this (and even change the colors around to different models), you would do well to have this at your fair. (You're probably going to have to MOC a bumper car ride area though). The rest of these sets are small little polybags or small little sets that are pretty self-explanatory. Most of them are also Friends sets, which are a great source of sets for building out this theme. 11. 41092 Stephanie's Pizzeria 12. 8398 BBQ Stand 13. 30106 Ice Cream Stand 14. 30113 Stephanie's Bakery Stand 15. 41027 Mia's Lemonade Stand 16. 41030 Olivia's Ice Cream Bike 17. 30203 Mini Golf 18. 41098 Emma's Tourist Kiosk 19. 3930 Stephanie's Outdoor Bakery 20. 30112 Emma's Flower Stand 21. 30202 Smoothie Stand 22. 30204 Wish Fountain 23. 41105 Pop Star Show Stage 24. (Honorable Mention) 10196 Grand Carousel It's been awhile since this set has been out. It's a thing of beauty. It's also extremely expensive. So - you in or are you out? Please suggest other things to make this post better. 16 Quote
Grolim Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I'd love to see Lego continue this 'subtheme'. How about they make the next train set a fairground roller-coaster?! As for current sets that fit the theme park idea, something that came to my mind was using the arcade and drink machines from the Kwik-E-Mart, or rebuilding them with differnt color combos, to create an arcade room. 4 Quote
legopocalypse Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Great idea Alpine. Not sure if the Steamroller would fit too? 1 Quote
Alpinemaps Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) I'm not going to go into all the different minifigs that would be appropriate, but I always thought Hot Dog Man would go great with the Hot Dog Stand. Another possibility for a MOC, those little spheres that are in the Jurassic World sets You could have four or five of them in a little "bumper car" type area. feed Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 If you’re going city and want those little extras; there is the Service Truck (60073) for the portable toilet. The Juniors Garbage Truck (10680) for the dumpster and maybe the Garbage Truck (30313) poly. There a few sets with slides, e.g. 41038: Jungle Rescue Base, 41008: Heartlake City Pool. But you’d really need to MOC something. 2 Quote
Jondog21 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I think the coffee stand from the new City Square set could fit in nicely too. It is easily modded into any kind of refreshment stand you might want. And also the tram from the same set could be a cool addition for transporting people from the parking lot to the fairgrounds. 1 Quote
Alpinemaps Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 60073 Service Truck Wow...I knew this existed, but I didn't realize I needed this. I'm going to have to pick up a few of these. 10680 Garbage Truck Another great set. Love the idea of the garbage dumpsters. 60097 City Square Another great addition. Quote
jay4e Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 friends hot air ballon (41097) would make a good fair ground addition as well. also comes with a picknic and camp setting that may be usable. 2 Quote

TheOrcKing Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I can see down the road a more traditional merry-go-round being released but nothing like the Grand Carousel. I would say the styling of the Fairground Mixer and Ferris Wheel should be a good indicator of what it would look closer to assuming such a thing came to pass. We may see a 'teacups' type of ride before then perhaps. 1 Quote

I really need to see if I can just find someone parting out the portable toilet and the dumpsters.Every good fairgrounds has to have some sort of slide. I looked over your suggestions, and they are good starts. But I think you're right - something might have to be MOC'd. Quote
Alpinemaps Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Found another good little add-on today: 60000 Fire Motorcycle Obviously, the draw here is the recycle bin. The alternative is the trash/recycle bin from 76005 The Daily Bugle Showdown: (Couldn't get a better picture) Quote
TheOrcKing Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 I really need to see if I can just find someone parting out the portable toilet and the dumpsters. Anyone else find it funny with all the toilets & port-a-potties released lately in official LEGO sets? ....Seriously, what's with all the crappers? Oh sorry, I meant 'crapei'. 1 Quote

Rodeogeorge Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Not to derail the potty theme going on here but I thought it interesting that at the local BM (that's brick and mortar) store, no FM on the shelf. First time since its release that I haven't seen it. Ok. back to toilet talk. Quote

It sounds like the Ferris Wheel is creating demand for the Mixer. Quote
