nolan.mcintyre
Hey everyone!I've been on here for a couple of months reading, but not posting. I got my start investing in LEGO when I managed to nab 10225 R2D2 this april for retail price and realized I'd rather make money off of it than build it. Since then I've bought some discounted LEGO Movie sets, Palace Cinema, and the VW bus all to resell based on my gut and what I've read.Anyway, on to my question: I've recently been sorting through my childhood LEGO bricks and piecing together my old sets. I'd like to sell these sets, but I don't think they're overly popular sets. For example I have pieced together the 8652 1:17 scale Enzo Ferrari, 8671 1:17 F430 Spider, 4507 Prehistoric Creatures, 4955 Big Rig Truck, 8649 Nitro Menace, and 8682 Nitro Intimidator. I don't mind undercutting people and not making as much money but it seems like nobody is going to buy these. Would it be better to part them out? Or perhaps to sell them as a lot? Any suggestions would bu much appreciated! Thanks in advance!
justapilgrim
Hello and welcome A few thoughts Now is one of the worst times of the year to sell lego. People want to be outside, ride a bike, etc not stay inside and build lego. A used set price now could double or more at Christmas time.I personally might try bundling together similar sets, and doing an eBay auction at the beginning of next month (beginning of month when people get paid). Someone will buy it, just know your price and stick too it. If not enough interest, sit on them till later in the year

justapilgrim
are you trying to be rude? Really? I've sold close to 1000 lego sales in last year. I have done the quick flips, old retired sets, and used sets similar to the above poster.A quick 3 minute search on ebay has almost all his listing with at least 1-2 lower sale prices. I'm sure there is a buyer for every one of those sets out there, but probably not at the profit margin OP would like at the moment.we all know collectors buy all year round, but please show me the one active seller here that can't wait for May!! Things fly off the shelf in may!! Most upticks in price sales are in relation to recent retiring, sold out etc not sets similar to OP.To OP, figure out a price you are comfortable with, and give it a whirl, you will be surprised what things do sell, also what doesnt

Pasty 40-something yo collectors build all year round, and rarely go outdoors lol.Using that rationale, I guess we are lucky here in Aus in the fact that our winter is in the middle of the year, and Xmas at the end to keep sales driving. nolan.mcintyre
Thanks for all of the replies!I'm not in any way expecting to get top dollar prices for these sets (especially the generic racer sets), but I think I'll hold on to them for a while regardless.
