JesusLovesLegos Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Is this set a good investment? It was discontinued shortly after release and re-released as the Shuttle Adventure 10231 because it the build was too complicated or wasn't built well(something like that :-)). Prices seem to be heading upward. Any ideas? Quote
lazybear Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 As the space shuttle program ends, any related merchandise should go up in value but I don't think Shuttle Adventure 10213 or 10231 will jump very high. However, I do like this set a lot and I hope it will go on sale someday. Quote
LEGO HULK Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I never bought either of these sets, but the recent news about the shuttle is interesting. I saw this image today on a news site and thought that it could be a cool MOC to create. Quote
legotrader Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 This set has the potential to be a huge money maker in the secondary market. It is a limited production set, so it is rarer than most. Quote

Almost identical looking, yet different internally, with the 10213 being the rarer set. Quote
Cheewyy Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Hi All, the 10231 is sold out from several days @officialshop, It's an interesting and beautiful set I think. We will see quickly if the value will go up. Quote
M4x18 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I can get my hands on a brand new 10213 set for 120 Quote
redeemed763 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I think a lot of Lego fans do not realize that there are two different Shuttle Adventures, 10213 and 10231. Almost identical looking, yet different internally, with the 10213 being the rarer set. I am not sure if that is really the deciding factor here, the 10231 was designed with some improvements in the construction, I have seen it going for more money in the secondary market despite being discontinued earlier. Either way, it may not make much difference to the collector who wants "that space shuttle model" a few of the elite folks may care but I doubt they will make much of a difference in the market. If I had the option to buy either of these sets at retail price, it wouldn't matter one bit which one I got. For example, if TLG had released a millenium falcon shortly after 10179 that had some minor design improvements, do you think it would sell consistently for less than the original? I don't think so, to those want their 10179 with AFA certification and an acrylic case, the first edition may count for something but its not like the first space shuttles came with a certificate of authenticity or anything.
