Does anyone have any opinions on this set as investment?  My gut says to stay away.  The last time I had that feeling was with the Sopwith Camel which I ignored unfortunately.

Well I just ordered a dozen or so... so I hope it's ok? ;)

I'm only in for one to build and so that makes my decision easy.

I think the fact that is still not sold out half a day in at 30% off is telling enough about overall demand, but that's just me.

i only buy sets that i would "LOVE" to build, or with crazy discounts... for me, this one does not fit the bill. Doesn't mean that it won't have success! ;)

Is there a trick to getting the gift cards? Its telling me the item doesn't but I can see that the # of sales has gone up since I last tried this morning :/

This listing (252641121894) has been removed, or this item is not available.

  • Please check that you've entered the correct item number.
  • Listings that have ended 90 or more days ago will not be available for viewing.

Yes, modify your paypal to a US address temporarily. :)

I like the idea but I don't think this works with the new paypal interface.  It sets your nationality as Canadian and you can no longer add a US address (phoning them was no help either).
it works for you presumably because your account is US based to begin with.

One method that will work is if a Canadian has a US bank account (an actual one, not a US dollar Canadian account).

Yup, that's correct. That's why you want to be near a border, either in Niagara Falls, Vancouver, Lethbridge or Windsor.

This is a hell of a deal. Limit is 5, but there are ways around getting more. I spoiled myself by getting the Technic Porsche for a grand total of 255USD on TRU.ca. :)

Used it for Canada. Got 134.20 out of 85USD today.

Just to really confirm this before buying... you can actuallly use such a 100 USD gift card on toysrus.ca, the Canadian website? They just convert the amount using the current exchange rate?

I wouldn't want to be stuck with a bunch of toysrus US gift cards.

The Helicarrier 76042 for 280 CAD seems a solid bet, but it's unfortunate that most of the minifigs are also present in various 30-40 CAD sets. This little detail really hurts part out resale value predictions.

I also hear a little voice saying that if I commit the funds to part out 6-12 of them, I'll regret them in a few days on Black Friday... :) Perhaps the price and stock on 76042 will last for a couple days more?

The helicarrier lasted longer than I expected but is now out of stock.  I'm hoping for even better deals pre and on Black Friday.

That ship has sailed. Just try to recall what happened last year. Sea Cow and Tumblers were at blowout deals after black friday. Some were before.

With the helicarrier oos, your only hope is that they immediately restock, then blow them out in the second week of December.

sorry for the late response. Hope you got the job done before it went oos.

Now that the list of LEGO Shop at Home deals for Black Friday has been posted, I regret not getting a bunch of these Helicarriers 76042. ;)
