Corran Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Hi, I'm new to this site and have recently come out of the dark ages ( I just learned this term a few weeks ago and love it!! ). I have found tons of great material and banter here and wanted to say Hi and I'm also wondering if there is a thread devoted to sorting and storing pieces and different ways/ containers for doing that? MartinP Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Welcome to Brickpicker!! I know that there is a topic that deals with sorting and storing pieces, but I can't seem to find it right now. I'll find it eventually. Quote
legoray01 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Welcome back.Lego sorting head works good for separating large from small.Home Depot or Lowes usually have the plastic tray containers that work for storing small pieces into different containers. Depending on the size you can store pieces by shape or color. mine is stored by shape and my boys collection is shaped by color. Either works because the key is knowing where to go to look for the piece. The shoe box trays work for bigger parts. Sterlite products are normally always in stock there and I have dozens of these. There are also the boxes with adjustable separators that I use as well so I can adjust the amount of storage to each piece. Quote
Guest brickcrazyhouse Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I can only tell you that sorting by color was a waste of time. Once sorted by piece type It's much easier to find what I need. Quote

I have all of mine sorted into shoebox size sterilite containers now and every time I need something I have to dump them out and dig through it everytime... It's gotta be the or close to the worst way to do it. I have few colors sorted by piece now in ziplock bags then back in the Sterilite boxes which is faster to find something but there has to be a better way Quote
