Set up a stock alert via Brickpicker. You'll always know when it's back in stock. :)

stock alert is messed up.  keeps sendinga msg that there are ds on stock for 399.99 about 10x now when i go out there it takes me to amazon but lowest for new is $543...what  gives? kinda useless if it keeps doing this....

Don't lose patience.  I was able to score an AT-AT at retail from Amazon a few days ago thanks to the stock tracker.  It was the first time in weeks that I was able to complete checkout before disappearing in my cart.  You just have to be quick.

I think it's kinda useless to stay up till 1am.

Pay the $543 if you really want one. If you keep waiting you might pay $600+ soon.

Hey guys

woul it be clever to liquidate some Death Star right now to get new capital for investment in another Sets? I have 3 one of thoose at the moment. I just think that some another exclusive Set will be retire very soon and I couldn't catch them.

No. Be realistic, it has only just retired and every day more sellers are putting them on the market so price increases are being contained. We could see it at 600-700 for some months and it may actually fall a little when SW fever diminishes.

It will be a 1k set someday but patience is required.

I think due to the supply, it will take 3+ years to reach $1k. I might be dead wrong but there's still a chance it's refreshed with another Death Star which will prob hurt.

10221 was only available for 3 years with the same MSRP and it's not at $1k yet after an est. 18 months of retirement

Yeah, I´d say 2-3 years is ballpark. SSD is now trading at 900 euros consistently, 1 year after retirement and had a much shorter shelf life, however DS is arguably more iconic.

The new version could take things either way - I guess that sales will drop off when it is more widely known it will be released but if it is radically different/based on TFA/rubbish, demand for the original wil increase.

how soon is soon?

and the answer is no, probably not soon

I've understood your thaughts, but...for someone like me with restricted budget maybe it will be the right way. I've seen some retired Sets, which almost doubled its RRP. I guess on the short run it would be necessary to liquide and invest liquid and invest... Just get profit quick.

For example if i wouldn't sell now the DS to get new Money, maybe I will get more profit on the long run. But I think I can compensate on the short with reinvesting, likeflipping.

I´d say now is a good time to take profit if you got in cheap and are not looking to reinvest in other sets. There will be another window in late summer when there will be more SW movie related hype and more will be know about the new DS. Prime time to reinvest in other sets.

I don't understand why you would sell a recently retired set to speculate on possible retirement of current sets.

That's my world upside down.

I thaught because of my low buying price, which was 335€, could I take right now a good profit and at the same time more liquidity.

Imagine what could I do, for example if the T1 Camper or TB will retire soon? I just would have a small budget to catch them, at least not in high quantity.

i got one at 499 just saying the tracker isn't working

It works, but you need a strategy.  When you start to get alerts click the link, if it is not available at 399 it means there were likely very few available and someone got there before you.  You need to stay on the landing page and refresh it every few seconds.  As soon as you see 399 hit the buy now (better yet have one click ordering set up and turned on).

Think of it as a game and remember, if this were easy everyone would do it.

I am amazed that people are actually complaining about not being able to get one of these sets (using the tracker, etc).

If you never purchased one (sometime over the last 50 years they've been available), you really have no right to be whining about it now.

$400 is a lot to spend on one set, some people also got back into Lego, some were cheap, waited too long, etc... Everyone has their reasons.

i don't own many but was very lucky to buy all of mine with major discounts plus a new one with no box for building at a used price level back in 2014.

No issue with people wanting one (if they didn't get one earlier) - but at this stage, they should feel lucky to (not entitled to) acquire one at a reasonable price.
