I vote that they combine the idea of modulars with the DS. Split it into multiple $150 sets that can be interconnected to form a monster...

I thought of the same idea years ago.  Each set/section makes up a portion of the sphere.  Would be pretty awesome.

Yes.  Arkham Asylum's somewhat disappointing returns make me rate a UCS star wars set above it.

Arkham Asylum is a wall with some figs, aka a play set. The Tumbler is a real UCS display piece; it's way better.

The thing that scares me about the Death Star is the rumored bigger, better remake that could be coming very soon.

Yeah, in Europe one would bet more on SW but then again Tumbler has the edge on rarity value. Tough one to call - lucky I have both.

How long ago did they vote? I believe many bought some extra copies when it was sold out last summer.

And now people are going to go crazy trying to get the last ones, just as we were doing with SSD. Will be interesting to see how long it lasts at US SAH...

That's nothing. I have been engagement ring shopping. Now I'm thinking do I want a wife or a garage full of Death Stars....

Why dont u get both???  Kmart is running a 90% off jewelry sale and combined with your shop your way points and partial pay with a discounted gift card from raise.com, and rest with amex card for the points, you can get her a huge rock and still have the money u need for the death stars.  Problem solved:)

Mods, feel free to move to daily deal section if applicable

Either that or you get a new curtain to decorate your place with.

If I get her a ring from kmart I think I'll be buying all the Death Stars I want.

Why do you guys think this set is hoarded by every lego investor out there? 76% of those answered the poll said they have <= 2.

The last time the DS "retired", remember it was announced online by a reputable source, I sold 10 at the risk of loss of future profit to generate cash for shopkins. One observation I made during that period when it was  actually just "sold out" on LEGO Shop at Home prior to the red we are making more for you GPB was the amount of sellers, the amount of sets they had, and the slim margins they were willing to accept. Someone on here calculated a burn rate based on units sold per day and price and it was going to be a long time to hit $1,000.

If the Tumbler goes this year I think it hits $500 before the DS hits $1000.

Recent enough comparing to the 7 year life span of 10188? People using the 7-year run as the reason why it must be more hoarded than other sets.  Well, by 6 years most people saying they had none or less than a couple.

I guess it is all a matter of looking how thick is the coffee.

I dunno whom I have to fear more. The Emazer types with 30+ DS or the small time investor with 2. Cause the more sellers the more undercutters there will be.
