Where is this pic from? The way the red background cuts off to black right under the S in wars and above the white line looks odd. Why wouldn't it go down to the white line?

Still a new box would not surprise me. At this point it's expected.

If this box is legit and they do plan on doing a new one next year, then this version could be the most sought after later. The one that's been around for years has the Vader art on it. This art would be on way less boxes than Vader, therefore drawing a bit more money in the long term.

Which would be worth more, the box, or the instructions?

So today I received 2 from target and they were each in their own Lego outer cartons. I opened both outer cartons and I new they were both returns. One had a return slip inside and the other had been opened and I saw where the previous shipping label had been. I examined the seals and they all looked good. I don't have a sensitive scale that can handle that much weight so I wanted to know what everyone's thoughts were? Am I being overly paranoid? I don't really want to opened the boxes. Should I contact Target and explain my concerns? Thanks

I got mine a couple weeks ago and the same thing happened to my DS from Target as well. There was a return slip in the box with a January date but the tags seem to be in place. It was a little damaged on the outside with some creases but I've been told to keep it as it wont detract the value much.

Yeah i wouldn't be surprised by new box art either, but the flaw you mentioned also makes me believe this particular pic isn't real.

Could this be the new improved version of the Death Star ("Now with disney logo!") that was rumored to be released in 2016?

I don't think the background is cut off. To me it looks like it's fading from reddish brown to black and the low resolution of the picture may just make it appear like a cut off at first glance.

There are a lot of little inconsistencies when compared with the new TFA boxes, but it sure gave me a scare there for a minute. Pretty devious if someone put this out there just to pick up some cheap Death Stars when everyone rushed to sell them on ebay.

If that's right then its pretty amazing the lengths people will go to just to get a few "cheaper" sets.  Although to be fair on them great idea, probably didnt take too long to do and definately a good enough effort to convince some people (at least for a short time anyway).  Just a pity their creativity cant be spent more wisely... like moc'ing up a 2 times the size DS :)

Now back to my banging the broom on my ceiling because the people up stairs sound like they're having too much fun :)

People don't have to have devious intentions. Maybe they're just creative... It was funny to me!

Hey there guys.maybe I should have been more clear.  Would this be disturbing to anyone, if it were real, which it is not?

seriously though it was just a boring day and I had a funny thought. Hope some of you enjoyed it.

And as you can see (from the xray) I didn't put much work into it. So if you're worried about too much time on my hands,  it was 7 minutes from idea to reality.

Maybe Lego will hire you. You are very efficient and effective if you did that in 7 minutes.

Please tell me you did the same trick with the winter toyshop!

hahaha, thanks but no unfortunately for those invested that was not my handiwork.

I still can't believe the Lego "designer" did a designer video for that set....Well I can't believe he did it with a straight face.

Well... I have experienced people doing far worse things than that with a straight face. It is what it is.

Dude! I would hate to be one of your friends/work colleagues come April fools day :) - that was a good one.  Don't have any DS (yet and unlikely to get one as I'll end up leaving it too late) but did give me a bit of hope I'd have longer to make my decision.
