Just waiting for Star Wars beef jerky and Star War labeled toilet paper to come out and I am not joking I think there is a chance of everything be labeled Star Wars. lol.

This won't happen. Mel Brooks made sure to retain the rights to all toilet paper merchandising.

You want to know what is really funny ? I typed this before I read your edit: Yes Snow Glo Elsa of a different sort lol.

I think the movie will be awesome but even if it is not great the merchandising fever and sales will be a success.  The Lego products that were yanked yesterday look great for the type of sets kids want (and I like them).  The SDCC first order stuff was great star wars black and hot wheels.  the darth vader force fx lightsaber is great.  It is going to be a home run of epic proportion.  It will die down of course after a couple of movies some degree but it has been pent up so long there is one heck of a tidal wave coming to the retail industry and it is going to happen this year.  this Christmas.  I mean I am seeing Star Wars everything.  Just waiting for Star Wars beef jerky and Star War labeled toilet paper to come out and I am not joking I think there is a chance of everything be labeled Star Wars. lol.

This happened w/ Phantom Menace too though.  There was a huge buildup (bigger than Force Awakens for sure)----but guess what? Hasbro and every other manufacturer of Star Wars merchandise produced gazillions of product and it was, and still is, pretty much available at fractions of retail.  Sure, there will be some rare gems that some manufacturer underproduces that will command a premium, but most of it will likely be Pyrite.  X-mas will enjoy a nice spike, but I don't want masses to think it's going to be all glitter and confetti for resellers of Star Wars---it's not.

Interesting, I thought managers could see what sets were orderable but did not know what sets were in a particular shipment.  I am sure there will be more coming that were already in the pipeline, as well as returns (keep an eye on AWD) and cancelled orders from billing issues that will be bought up instantaneously but will there be another production run? The set never went to BO at LEGO Shop at Home so there is not that usual issue of existing orders being fulfilled/cancelled.

I was in a Lego store last week looking for a few items and the CSR indicated when their shipment comes in and that the sets I was looking for were not on the upcoming delivery and to check back the following week as they should be getting more in.  The set name isn't important :)

So perhaps in the past, they couldn't, but now they can.

Fair enough.

It is approach.  I am not saying you make money on flipping toilet paper and beef jerky.

I also would not buy some of the junk that is being clearanced right now with Star Wars on it.

But find the right product with the right need which if you are deep into Star Wars I think you will know and I think you could do quite well.

If I wasn't a fan of the Phantom Menace I could say like many do yeah but look at the quality of the movie (which would contradict what I said above) but since I loved the movie, and Jar Jar, I would not say that (everyone be nice to me)

All of the death stars i got from target were 20 R5.

I think more will come. How many? Not sure... But what i do know is TLG is becoming more diligent about making sure popular exclusives stick around long enough for people to get their fair share.

A smarter herd would have gobbled these up during the holidays. Things to think about.

Who knows TLG's plan. It's possible this set did sell out completely and it's done. But I think it's more likely a set at this price point, with the margins the DS must have, they're gonna milk this a little bit.

Step 1) make the set "sell out" at SAH to send resellers into a panic. All available inventory is almost immediately consumed.

Step 2) assuming step one went as planned , slowly put the set back in the market. Send out as many as possible but not too many....you need it to continue to sell out to maintain artificial demand between resellers.

Step 3) pick your date and actually retire it.  You exit the set with no leftover inventory on the exact date you wanted and managed to cram in an additional 1-2 years worth of sales before EOL.

That would be my plan.

But who knows what will actually happen. All you can do is have a set limit in your head and wait as long as you feel comfortable before buying.

Yep, oversaturation was in full force back then.  The Phantom Menace toys were a big time bust, especially once the movie came out and it was mostly seen as a giant dud.  I remember that era quite well, because I participated in the madness.  Leading up to it, they had the power of the force line, and that actually was very nice at times. Ebay had just started to really catch on with the masses, and boy..it was like printing money, up until the Phantom Menace appeared...

Really the only things I see spiking would be retired lego sets from 2013 and previous, UCS sets that are retired, Old Vintage sets that are already outrageously priced, and Star Wars black series figures from the last few years that are actually somewhat good.  Other than that, I think the oversaturation of the Force Awakens will be so overwhelming, that people might be "star warsed-out" by January.  There maybe so many Poe's X-wings out there that it maybe better to wait until they are clearanced at walmart in late 2016.

On vacation in vegas and the store had one on the shelf...Guy came in and paid cash.  I spoke w the sales girl and asked if they ship, to which she said no, and that was the last one and its retired.  Would have purchased it but no way to get it home.
