Ordered two through walmart.ca. Order was cancelled. Canada Walmart is brutal for inventory levels and not being correct.

When they get down to their last few units they absolutely do suck. I guess TRU.ca it is! I don't think any of the smaller players up north stock the DS.

Also keep in mind inflation is ~10% over the last 7 years. If you paid $400 7 years ago you actually paid $440 today.

That's kind of funny but true.  Better to pay in today's devalued dollars, or euros, or whatever.  Of course, going forward you have to realize that central banks are hellbent on creating inflation (they call this price stability; it's beautifully Orwellian).  In the US, deposit rates are zero.  In Europe, they're negative.  You're 'supposed' to buy stocks, or maybe a house (or two) to prop up that market.  I do think there's a lego bubble.  Unfortunately, there are bubbles everywhere you look.

I just called my local Lego store. The lady on the phone said that the set is not going to be retired yet and they are going to get more in. She said it is only temporarily out of stock. This was communicated to her.

Could you register her an account and get her on here for a discussion?

It wasn't around 4:20 when you spoke to her was it? Those LEGO employees can be quite mischievous at times.

I guess she should inform LEGO Shop at Home about the change.

If it comes back for a little bit I do not view it as a problem

even if it were not to retire I do not think they will be able to keep stock on hand this Christmas supplied and it will rise considerably

but I do think it is retiring this year and hopefully sooner than later

think about it 7 billion people on the planet millions upon millions will watch the movie it probably 1/3 of the united states alone will go watch it

I see no way lego keeps up with production needs this Christmas on star wars anything (well maybe Star Wars Chima fire bikes)

She mentioned a Lego intranet site where the get status information about their products. I also mentioned that is states sold out online. She replied yes she is aware of that but that is not correct to her knowledge. Several people already asked for availability and that is why she informed herself about the status of the set.

I am not making this up.

Do you predict Hoth (cough, Frozen) fever for TFA?  If I can get a Snow Glow Rey, I'm there.

You want to know what is really funny ? I typed this before I read your edit: Yes Snow Glo Elsa of a different sort lol.

I think the movie will be awesome but even if it is not great the merchandising fever and sales will be a success.  The Lego products that were yanked yesterday look great for the type of sets kids want (and I like them).  The SDCC first order stuff was great star wars black and hot wheels.  the darth vader force fx lightsaber is great.  It is going to be a home run of epic proportion.  It will die down of course after a couple of movies some degree but it has been pent up so long there is one heck of a tidal wave coming to the retail industry and it is going to happen this year.  this Christmas.  I mean I am seeing Star Wars everything.  Just waiting for Star Wars beef jerky and Star War labeled toilet paper to come out and I am not joking I think there is a chance of everything be labeled Star Wars. lol.

I'm already seeing Star Wars cereal and chewy fruit snacks at Target. You are on it! It has begun!

After reading the post about the Lego store I decided to call the store we have here in Honolulu myself and see what I could find out.  So here is the deal - I called the Lego store and acted like a good ole dad just looking to finally buy the Death Star for my six year olds upcoming birthday.  I told the guy that I had heard rumors through the internet that the Death Star was no more and I was worried because I have been waiting until my kid was the appropriate age to actually enjoy building the Death Star.  After conversing with the dude for about five minutes about dad stuff, dad jokes, etc. I asked him if any were in stock.  He told me that they sold out two days ago. Then I heard typing over the phone and he said "we have a shipment coming in the first week of August".  I asked if I could put my name down and reserve one, he said no problem, took my name and phone number down. I now have one reserved at the Lego store in Honolulu for the first week of August.

Not sure really what this means and I believe no one on this site knows what any of this means.  What I do know is that these are not the droids you are looking for.

Cheers.

P.S. Pirates is the best line ever created by Lego.

Mega Bloks Star Trek Wars Enterprise NCC-1701 ? :D

I certainly hope not.

But if Toys R Us clearances those last big what are they Call of Duty megabloks sets I will be flipping them too.

You are more right than you know LOL.  My wife bought for me without me knowing or asking 2 boxes of the Star Wars lucky charms knock off a week ago one I will collect mint in the box (yes seriously not to eat) and one I had some of for breakfast this morning.  Not bad.  I also have had some type of the fruit snack or honey maid grahams or something that I was handed the box that has cut out collector cards on the back to collect.

Speechless.  We just need that police guy driving around in a circle from the beginning of Die Hard and the scene would be complete.

Now see that worries me.  There's no way Lego would retire DS with SW themed TP on the way.  I mean, obviously the TP would feature the DS, and every time a SW fan answered the call of nature, he or she would be like 'Damn, I got to get me a DS'.  Just think of all the lost sales if the DS were already retired...

Edit: Careful with the SW themed 'beef' jerky.  Some of that stuff is actually Bantha meat shipped in from China.

Interesting, I thought managers could see what sets were orderable but did not know what sets were in a particular shipment.  I am sure there will be more coming that were already in the pipeline, as well as returns (keep an eye on AWD) and cancelled orders from billing issues that will be bought up instantaneously but will there be another production run? The set never went to BO at LEGO Shop at Home so there is not that usual issue of existing orders being fulfilled/cancelled.
