I do LEGO for a hobby, and to unwind. Technic does the opposite to me. It winds me up. I agree that it is SUPER rewarding when you are done. The stuff is cool to display. But in the end, I just don't enjoy the build. The biggest I have done is the MKII, and it truly is agonizing when something does't line up, and you have to back-track 1 hour to fix it. That is not an exaggeration. It can take an hour to fix something in the center of a complex mechanism. To me, that sort of thing just makes it stressful. The last point which is minor to me, is that I didn't do technic growing up. Some of the joy I get from LEGO are memories from my childhood, and technic just wasn't a part of it. 7 Quote
Alpinemaps Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Same. Then came home and had a 15% off TRU coupon in my email. Sucks bec TRU is 25 min away. That sucks. I always worry at this events that I'll get home and the kids won't have gotten all the pieces. I'm about 20 minutes away from mine. My problem today was that I spent my rewards bucks on something yesterday and found something else today (different TRU) that I'd rather have. 1 Quote

New thread idea...what did you regret buying because you found something better almost immediately? Quote

nolanfan34 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 We did the Nexo Knights build at TRU today. TRU employee was very enthusiastic. No joke, to get the little booklet/cards, you had to finish the build and then yell "huzzah" loudly. Nice free little build, my son was excited for the sword alone. 4 Quote
Alpinemaps Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 That's pretty funny. We get so many people at our builds they don't even set up tables for doing the build. They just have us bag them up and go home. Quote

Quacs Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Classic Batman Batcave - loved it. The batmobile and minifigs shine, and the rest is great too. I hope to do a review of the build shortly. 8 Quote

Popular Post Dr. Brick Posted February 22, 2016 Popular Post Posted February 22, 2016 And built a few Modulars to finish my city block. I need to build a few more and will build my third green grocer next, but this time mirrorred. Should be an interesting build. 13 Quote

Well done! Exactly what I was going for! Car free pedestrian walkway I will add some 200 minifigures to this to give it a 'busy' street feel like the 'Kalverstraat' in Amsterdam 6 Quote

Brian Briggs Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 (edited) Today I managed to finish building the Grand Emporium. For the photo I placed it between 10246 and 41101 which were built in the past two weeks. Some people complain about the built being repetitious but I didn't mind that. What I did find noticeable when I opened the bags was the absence of a brick seperatator as Its regular inclusion in bigger sets is something one gets accustomed to with time. I still have a second GE to realize an extension of this modular building at some point. The parts of two GEs might not be enough though. Edited February 22, 2016 by Brian Briggs 8 Quote
