What LEGO set did you build today?

I am sure many of you have had the pleasure of building this set so I won't go in to a full review.

I am taking this build slow, partly because I want to make it last, and also because a large amount of my time (outside of work) is spent with my wife and five month old son.

This is my first big set, and modular, since I came out of my dark age. It has been really cool to see some new parts and pieces as well as some new techniques that have been developed in my absence. Enough of my "talking", here are some pictures.

nice pics. yup, brings back memories when my son and a built it together as our first big set too about 6wks ago. you can't stop at one modular :) enjoy family time and some building on the side.

Thank you! Thinking about the Cinema or Pet Shop next. :)

EDIT: The Parisian Restaurant is also high on the list.

Last night, I built Hoth Wampa Cave 8089.

Nice little build.  I enjoyed building the Snowspeeder.  I haven't built one yet.  The cave is small, but well done.

I like this set too, makes for a nice little desktop display.

No kidding... I'm studying for my EMT Fisdap, but if/when I pass it, I will be celebrating by building something nice. (Maybe the Death Star)

I am studying for the nursing exam... already have the mini ready to build for when I pass! It may have to wait a few days due to dental surgery (Good Bye Wisdom Teeth!). I guess I will need a set for when I take EMT classes, hopefully this winter.

The other day I built one of the friends animals sets.

10 minutes in to the 41999 and I'm already in over my head......I'm definitely not a master builder lol this is gonna take a while.

Keep at it - the challenge is the fun of Technic! That set really gets going once you see how the drivetrain and suspensions are built, and the body comes into shape.

I built the 42004 Mini Backhoe Loader.

Simple, quick build.  But pretty awesome.  I really enjoy the Technic line and this one didn't disappoint at all.  The playability level is superb.  5 different action functions that are easy to use.  The set is sturdy and a great one to play with.

Kids and adults should both really enjoy this set.  Well worth it!  Definitely exceeds expectations for the price point.

I have 9398, really want to crack it open but I bought it to stash away until the kids get older.  Must....resist...

I haven't built any technics since the 80's, they look like a completely different animal now.

Do you have another 1x9 rod in a different color in the set that you could use instead?  Perhaps you accidentally used the wrong color in a prior step.  When this happens to me I usually go back through the steps and every time a step calls for a 1x9 red rod I try to see what I actually used in the model, if it's not buried of course.

I did this recently when I built the Twilight, took me like 45 minutes to fix it.

^ this. It should be easy enough to find the page with the red rod .. finding the rod on the other hand. :)

When I built the imperial shuttle, I flipped the gears on one side by accident and didn't discover it until much later. Usually you can "break" the model apart into easier to assemble pieces and reassemble after fixing your mistake.

I agree with the color substitution if you're not a purist. :)

The problem is that it's 90% built it would take forever to go back I just ordered another one on ebay, hope it works if I have a beam somewhere it shouldn't be.

Isn't taking sets apart and rebuilding them all part of the Lego experience? :taunt:
