TWO2SEVEN Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Congrats Two27. I want to buy and build the Grand Prix too...can't decide between buying now at 20% off or waiting until Aug and buying from LEGO Shop at Home with some other things to get the polybag/vip pts. hmmmm. Just finished the Petshop with my son yesterday. Really fun build and like the little details inside and outside. Lego did a great job. I actually like the build more than the GE which was the first to catch my eye. So we just have 2 modular done now...up next might be the FB we got in a trade from a friendly/generous Canadian BP member. Have to wait for at least 2x vip points to get the Parisian Restaurant, Cinema, and TH Hoping Lego releases another modular building this fall too. Thank you! My GE should be here tomorrow. After that I would like to get one of the other modulars as well. Debating between the Parisian Restaurant and the Palace Cinema also. Quote
M4x18 Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Brickdrawal has been kicking in really hard these past days. I'm gonna have to relapse and do the 10233 tonight. Quote
Bold-Arrow Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Finished building 7662 (MTT).. it is pretty sturdy and im impressed by it.. i intend on buying the new one at some point and displaying them together. More DROIDS plz Quote
naf Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 I've had an unusual amount of building time the last few evenings... was going to start building the mini cooper, but this thing has been calling my name for a while now. Awesome model, and a fun build. Think I'm going to have this one on display in my office. 7 Quote

TWO2SEVEN Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Tonight I took a few minutes to build the Tumbler Polybag (30300). I am still working on my stop motion skills. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Quote

Alpinemaps Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 The pieces I was waiting to come in from Bricklink finally arrived for the tender and passenger car for the Emerald Night. So I put those together. This is the first train pieces I've ever put together. I suddenly get the appeal of train sets. Wow. It's an awesome looking piece, completed. Wish I had the engine to go with it. (I pulled 99% of the parts from a CL buy a couple months ago, and just got around to BL'ing the last few parts I needed). Unfortunately, only the tender and passenger car were there. Nothing of the engine existed in the lot. Quote
Quacs Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Mini Cooper and mini Mini Cooper Thoughts: 1. Phenomenal design, great coloring and graphics, just a beautiful model 2. Engine is great 3. My big issue with the set is the steering wheel is just too big for the model. Its scale is just off. 4. The picnic basket and accessories are really nice touches on an already fabulous model. 5. I felt like I had to put the English license plates on and build the steering wheel on the left side of the car. Without these, the car wouldn't have felt authentic. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I like this model better than the VW camper. All in all, it looks so authentic. The body styling is so spot on, the coloring is awesome and the accessories just push this set over the edge. It is displayed proudly with the mini Mini Cooper, VW Camper, Mini VW Camper and the VW Beetle. 1 Quote
redghostx Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Built the Tantive IV ($35 from a CL lot, one or two pieces missing) - This was fun to build as it really came together quickly but as a display piece, it is only ok. The small pieces used to add definition and detail look a little odd to me. I have included a picture of the 3 sets side by side - these either need new homes or I need new display cabinets! Quote
M4x18 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 10233 built, I hate that Lego is "forcing" me to buy 2 of these. With only one set, the engine is in one end and on the other end is just a passenger car, leaving the train looking unfinished/incomplete. Pic to follow. Quote
M4x18 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 So, here's the pic of the passenger car end of the train and just my luck, a missing piece... I'm missing a 1x8 black tile Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker 1 Quote
strangeboy Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 My son, 7-years old, has started building UCS X-wing 10240, with me checking on things. He was a little wide-eyed (not in a good way) when all the bags poured onto our building table (old train table table with raised edge) and I showed him the 3 instruction booklets. So far, doing a little bit each night, he's almost done with bag 1 and a little unsure of what the end result will look like - he keeps asking to see the box. Anyway, fun to watch him figure it out. I'll post pics of progress. 2 Quote

He just turned 2 and is already pretty smart at building his duplo's that I am wondering who taught him that? 1 Quote

jhammill24 Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Spent a few hours tonight with my new Mini Cooper 10242. I'm biased...I really like Mini Coopers. I owned one before and it was a blast to drive. I couldn't wait to get my hands on this set when I saw the announcement a while back. So starting with the box. it definitely grabs one's attention and the pictures do a great job of showing all the detail and functions of the set. The build itself was simple yet enjoyable. The neatest part was getting the seats built. The pattern is nice and it was interesting to see it all come together. The headrests move and the seats do as well. The final product is plenty sturdy. You don't have to worry about pieces falling off as you handle it. Just be cautious of the side view mirrors...they aren't meant to move and will pop off. The weird part about this set is the size of the steering wheel. It is large and way out of proportion. It is so big you can't really move the shifter without it popping out due to the steering wheel being in the way and taking up so much space. I would think there would be a smaller alternative somewhere in the LEGO line-up. But that is really the only downside I noticed. Engine is done well. Picnic gear was a nice touch. The roof comes off easy enough, just pull up from the rear and reattach from there too. Overall, i like this set a lot. I'll take it down from time to time and give it some hands on action. Displays really well and I'm sure will be a conversation piece. Anyone else build it yet? Thoughts? I was able to get 2 during the VIP pre-release. The other one will stay in the box in my closet for quite some time. I'm interested to see the investment potential. MINI enthusiasts will definitely enjoy it. Curious as to whether or not it has a good response from AFOLS. Kids loved it and wanted to play with all the moving parts. I gave them a moment...then placed it on my bookshelf next to R2-D2. Quote
ravenb99 Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Just finished it also a few nights ago and agree on the steering wheel. Its enormous and just seems out of place. Takes up most of the drivers seat. Love the seats and interior door panels. Engine bay has a lot of great detail also. Was an enjoyable build and looks great with the "mini" mini next to it. Quote
Pseudoty Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Marina Bay Sands. Needed to get this one done before the Trevi Fountain comes out so my arch collection is complete. I forgot to take a pic of what I thought was the neatest feature, the elevators in the three towers, they are not visible in the finished product but here it is: 3 Quote
