Sprocket77 Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Not quite a what did I build today, but I finally got to take my childhood Lego out of the attic and found these instructions, so will have to try this out. Instructions were a bit sparse back then. 3 Quote
Stud-Flipper Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Speaking of built sets, have any of you ever accidentally dropped a recently completed model, and tragically watched as it shatters in the floor? Quote

After I had completed the VW Camper Van my Dad decided to pick it up by the roof to examine it. Anyone who has built it will know that was a bad idea. 2 Quote
Manse1001 Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Speaking of built sets, have any of you ever accidentally dropped a recently completed model, and tragically watched as it shatters in the floor?Yep, finished the new Falcon a few months back, my bro came to my house to meet me before leaving for a day out, I took it off the shelf to show him and it was like it magically pulled off a move from TFA on its own and just fell to the floor!! This thing is pretty fragile at the best of times, so when it hit the deck it was game over!! Ruined my day knowing it was on my office floor in bits!!!! 2 Quote

uaford Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 My son used a gift card that he got for his bday to buy and build 75142 Homing Spider Droid. The Yoda minifig put him over the edge bc he didn't have one. Not a bad little set. 8 Quote

Popular Post marcandre Posted August 1, 2016 Popular Post Posted August 1, 2016 Finished the cinema expansion. I tried a number of different looks but expanding on the original looks best. The only thing that bothers me is the screen is too small. I may add Apu's garden to the roof at some point but he will need some way to get up there. 27 Quote

Popular Post TheGallows Posted August 1, 2016 Popular Post Posted August 1, 2016 I finally got round to building the GE. Not the most exciting of builds, but the finished product does look good. Still have another used one bagged and ready to go so I can do the double. 15 Quote

I know people do different things with Lego, I heard that some even open sealed sets and build them, but me being a reseller....there is no way....here is my Marina-Bay-Sands that I bricklinked (missing couple pieces that are on the way already) 8 Quote

Popular Post gregpj Posted August 4, 2016 Popular Post Posted August 4, 2016 I kind of built the Mini Cooper... This one has been a long time coming. I had to make a number of substitutions since the parts don't exist in orange - mostly on the ass end. The boot lid looks better in person than in pictures.Yes, it's left hand drive with a rear spoiler and the antennae at the back. I'm missing two black 1x2 2/3 slopes for mirrors.Source material is parked out in the garage. 25 Quote

Love the black and gray interior. Kind of makes you wonder why TLG just doesn't run one color for 12-18 months then change to another color. Or just release like four different colors next year. I imagine there'd be a fair number of Mini fans that would buy every color. I also want to know when TLG is going to expanded this license out into BMW (owner of Mini). There are a bunch of cool cars they could do: M1, late 88-92 M3, 95-98 M3 (see below), 80's M6, 2003 M5. Trust me, BMW fans will buy any model of their car. Quote
gregpj Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Gregpj, Nice mod work! I love the orange and black color, it looks great.Thanks. Dark orange would have matched the color of our Mjni better but all those funky rounded 1x4 bricks don't exist. The ones I couldn't believe didn't exist in orange are the 2x3 plate with rounded end and pin hole and no hinges exist in orange?! Not the plate version and not the brick version.I may change out the front grill to black. You can't see from the picture but our car has black fender accents so that was a nice match. Quote

Yeah, I'm kind of surprised by the lack of color for that piece, but the black hinges gives a nice break in the orange color, it gives it some nice stripes. If you wanted to, the other thing you could do to match your car...is use orange & pieces for the front bumper instead of the silver, and use some silver pieces behind the grill and then use black grill pieces . I really like your design, and having an orange bumper maybe too much orange...so take my vision with a grain of salt! Edited August 4, 2016 by Kevink24 Quote

I really like your design, and having an orange bumper maybe too much orange...so take my vision with a grain of salt! Hah, anything is on the table. I might bricklink some of those orange cylinders to test. It might be ok since I used more black on the roof than the original green. I'm going to start with the black grill though... This is really my first MOC type change to any set and I'm quite happy. I'm a set purist but we've got the green one too. Now what to do with all those extra green and white parts?! Edit: oh and my partner wants the rally lights on the real car so those will soon match. 2 Quote
Alpinemaps Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Finished up the Pet Shop. Fun build. Nothing really special to warrant it being alive still. Time to put this old dog to rest. But I enjoyed the build. Here is a pic of the build and one with my GE. It's actually looking like some building is happening. But I'm going to sell off the PS. Just wanted to give it a build. On to TH next! 9 Quote
