Target Canada Closing all Stores

There's also a coupon code for tru.ca that could potentially make this hot:

Use code CineplexHoliday at the checkout to get $10 off $40 for online orders.

It excludes exclusives, and there's a possibility it excludes sale items, but worth a try?

I tried code on several items and it doesn't work.  Thanks though.

Thank you maryjmeg, that promotion code seems OK.

Pleased 4 orders with this code, each has $10 removed from total price.

In order to use this promotion code, you must use the one maryjmeg gave. Note: it is case sensitive.

Seems TRU.ca want to make sure each user could just use this code once for all, but looks like they just save the usage information in cookies. So if you got annoying message saying your code is not valid blah blah blah the second time you trying to apply it, just clear your browser's

Sorry don't know why but my post is not done.

Just clear your browser's private data, especially the cookie information and you can apply that promotion code again.

At most I could reach about 37% off before tax, but better than Target's LIQUIDATION SALE.

Thanks... the code is apparently good from Feb 1 to the end of March. And so far it's working on sale items.

Thanks, bigreen! I used the code yesterday before this Lego sale started. I thought I could only use it once, but now I'm going to place some more orders!

Glad I can help.

I think the easiest way to apply this promotion code the second time is:

1. Change to another browser that you have not used for placing order on TRU.ca or switch to another computer

2. Do not login to your TRU.ca account

Good luck!

TRU doesn't ban people, do they? Just worried they'll notice all the separate orders going to the same address with the same credit card number...

I really doubt they will ban people, but you never know. If you're concerned, do what everyone else does... Space your purchases out. Don't buy 99 of the same thing.

I think what's likely to happen if this "single use" code gets abused (which it will) is that it won't be offered again. This code was only supposed to a one-time code used by people who bought the $40 Cineplex Holiday bundle... don't know what they were thinking by making the code the same for everyone. Oh yeah, they're Toys R US - they weren't thinking.

interesting, code doesn't work for me.  I get error message.  Oh well.

What is the error message? If you're getting "Your order does not meet the requirements for this promotion. Please use a valid credit card number to pay for your order total." then you've picked something that isn't included in the promotion.

Has anyone been able to use this code on a train set (or tracks)?

Thanks!

Didn't follow through on the checkout, but worked for the flexible tracks (set quantity to 3 to go past $40). Didn't work on the trains though.

I'm eyeing up the Arctic Base Camp and other sets... I've been wanting those for personal collection.

Thanks, I will simply buy the trains in store and maybe some track online as it is a little cheaper than a US sale.

Yes that is the error.  I tried an exosuit and it seems that is the issue.  Once I removed it, things work.

Haha, anyone get an e-mail from Sears for a $10 off $50 purchase coupon saying: "Target may be closing, but your local Sears isn't!"

I chuckled

I got it too.. Not much of a deal. It seems the other Canadian retailers are smelling blood and offering the same 20% garbage Target is.

So I have to eat my words a little... I just used the $10 off $50 to buy a new cordless drill from Sears. My old drills use the 19.2V Ni-CD and the batteries are all failing (well, 2 have given up and the other 2 are weak sauce). So I bought the 19.2V with lithium ion batters on sale for $129.99 (retail $239.99) and stacked the $10 off.

I had to buy a new 3/8 ratchet anyways... I broke mine.  Funny how going for a $17 item turns into a $150 checkout experience. :)

Hadn't seen this in the news yet. "Crabby shoppers making Target employees cry."

Can't say I'm surprised... I haven't gone back since I went for a peek Thursday late morning and I think I'll avoid going back.

Not surprised either, and it's just disgusting.

RFD is filled with angry posts like: "WE DESERVE BETTER DEALS WTF TARGET". Getting this upset itself at the lack of deals is bad enough, but taking it out on the employees who have no control over the pricing and are losing there jobs here soon? Pathetic.

Have not been back in since Thursday as it was an absolute zoo, but i saw my fair share of people treating the employees with little respect.

I didn't stay long enough to witness anything like that... Thankfully.

You know, I'm not sure we "deserve" better deals but it would have been nice. I know some people around here got some decent deals from Target during their short stay but I have to say that I didn't - at least not on LEGO. Most of the "decent" deals seemed to be pricing mistakes (like the half price ISDs) and generally their LEGO selection was pretty poor. Toys R US had much better sales (even with the inflated prices) during that time too.

The one that surprised me was that Target had announced that none of the store fixtures or equipment would be for sale, but I drove by their flagship store (the brand new, covered parking, we paid a zillion tax dollars to redo water/sewer/road infrastructure around it) and it had giant banners declaring the fixtures and equipment were for sale too. Once again, they didn't get that right either. B.R.U.T.A.L.
