Second WM was sweet. Train Stations for $40, Demolition Sites for $50, Deep Sea Helicopter $30, RAPTOR ESCAPES! $25 Swamp Police Crooks Hideout for $40. Rainforest Animals $10 and then some smaller sets (the $15.99 ones...Swamp police and Pirates and such) were a flat $5. This WM also has 24 Scooby Mansions and 16 Spaceports in the clearance area but aren't marked down yet. I'll be monitoring like crazy, or I can try to PM. I didn't have my phone but will go back later to take pictures of the tags and then I was going to try to combine my pictures of the price tags with my receipt from this morning to get TRU to price match. I was thinking about trying to clear my TRU of the Demo site at $50. I can text those photos to other Canadians if you want to try this route. It might not be until late afternoon, but I'm happy to help if anyone is interested. Anyone else get different sets on sale? wow, thats nice Quote
Sandwraith Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Couple finds (but no buys) on my way home tonight, clearance section here was really small (less than an endcap): Friends Heartlake Mall $50 Crooks Hideout $45 Ninjago Morro Dragon $50 (might have been $45) There were some princess sets too in the clearance section, but didn't bother scanning. Any of you happen to be at the Oakville location tonight?! There was someone there knowing what to look for/scan while i was browsing Quote
megahuts Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 So, in the interest of sharing, I had an informative discussion with a couple Walmart workers today. Key takeaways: 1 - Walmart gives each store X amount of "clearance dollars" each month. They are then divided between all of the departments. Then the department managers allot the clearance dollars to individual discontinued items, which means they can only put one or two high value Lego sets on sale, because they only have about ~$500. 2 - that aisle of random junk / toys. Those are the discontinued toys that they no longer have shelf space for. However, that doesn't mean they are going to go on sale anytime soon, due to limitation 1. Those discontinued items will just sit there until someone makes the decision to apply their limited fund to move the product. Lego is expensive and takes up limited space. 3 - there is one final way for Lego to go on clearance. Lego themselves tell the stores to put it on clearance. The store employees have no idea when this will happen. This is when you can see chain wide clearance, probably on low sale sets. So, this means even though one Walmart has something on clearance, it doesn't mean the other Walmarts have it at that price. And this also explains why they won't price match other Walmart store clearance prices (since those discounts are at the discretion of each store). The final key item - check your local Walmarts on the first / second day of each month for new discounts. 1 Quote

I've been told of the same information as well, thus, why Walmart clearance YMMV. Quote

Stragus Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 I stopped by two Walmarts in Montreal (Langelier, Anjou) and there was absolutely nothing of interest. In a Toys R Us (Anjou), they had two "Ultra Agents - Hurricane Heist (70164)" for 24.98 CAD, compared to a MSRP of 90 CAD. There were several other clearance stickers in front of empty shelves ("X-Men vs. The Sentinel (76022)" for 34.98 would have been nice). Quote

That's just because I am awesome. I have been having trouble with Tapatalk unsubscribing me from threads, so double email ain't too bad. On topic, I noticed the Lego Birds set is available on Walmart. Not on sale, but it seems to be popular in the toys r us thread. Quote

So i've got a chunk of change tied up right now I'd still pick up some stuff if i'm passionate about the set/theme, but none of these tickle my fancy. Quote

Nice to have this hobby to sell off a bunch of stock in a pinch and make a couple extra thousand for times like these! Quote

Sandwraithx157, we have done this before, would you perhaps want to pick some of that stuff, debox all the sets, and ship them to me? I am very interested in these 3 sets (assuming quantities at least 6). What kind of commission would you like for such a service? 1 Quote

barakamon Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Walmarts in Manitoba apparently only price-match receipts from other Manitoba Walmarts... So no luck whatsoever in my part of the woods. Quote
nami Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 So far I've only been able to get the following: 3 Jokerland $75 ..more available 3 Quinjet $50 ..more available 9 Antman $15 (nice surprise to see these at all) Passed on 50% off Ninjago and 50% off City deep sea exploration. Would be nice to find some 50% off Star Wars. Several Walmarts in the area are still awaiting their $ allowance from head office. Quote

I was going to go out tomorrow and check on some... but if you've already done the legwork I can stay home and work on ebay listings instead... Cheers mate! Quote

Jaykay21 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Keeping an eye on the Ottawa area and I did notice Lego sets placed in the clearance areas but no mark downs yet. Saw: batman joker land guardians of the galaxy Milano the city spaceship Darkseid battle star wars transporter with the tie fighters sorry but I don't know the actual names! Anyway, looks like they'll be placed on clearance fairly soon and it seems that similar sets might also be placed on discount in other parts of the country. Are any of these sets worth buying for investing...? Because they probably didn't end up in clearance due to being a hot seller lol Also, hoping for Star Wars to go on clearance especially the overpriced tie fighter! Quote
