Hello from the Netherlands

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am reading this forum for a time now and want to introduce myself.

My husband and I are small brickvesters from the Netherlands. We do this for a year-and-half now, and we are a little addicted to it now. We have about 150 sets and 50 polybags and minifigures. Also we have sold about almost 50 sets in less then a year, which we are quite proud of.

We have learned a lot through this time, and bought Some sets with no growth potential, but also Some sets with a lot of potential.

So that is our story, and I hope to learn a lot here, and also make my contribution to this forum.

Wees gegroet Marum.

It seems you are already doing very well with acquiring and selling sets. I am sure this forum will help you maximize the profits.

I wish you succes. Remember also that even if a set has not much growth potential at this moment, with some patience it can turn into something profitable.

Hello Marum,

Welcome to this site. That's quite a stock you have 150 sets nice done, do you have sets from all themes or only a few? I have now about 75 sets most of them are star wars sets.

You said you have some sets with no growth potential I think we all have that, the mistake i made in the beginning was that i wanted to be an investor but i behaved like a collector so i bought stuff way overpriced just to have a lego serie complete.

You said you already have sold 50 sets that's very good because the selling process is a very instructive and gives you a feeling your doing good with the investing part, i just wonderd where do you sell? Only marktplaats or also at ebay?

Thank you!

We have sets from different series: lotr, hobbit, Some star wars, lone ranger, modulars, potc, SpongeBob and super heroes. We've had Some Harry Potters but sold most of them. The collecting part is also very much fun. To have sets that nobody else have is quite interesting. Also we focus more and more on the exclusives for the money, but to have the Nice smaller sets is juist fun.

We only sell on marktplaats.

Welcome!

It sounds like you are off to a great start.

You have two important things going for you.

1. You are doing something you love (buying and selling legos)

2. You have a supportive spouse.

Something to keep in mind is that there will be sets/ themes that are wildly successful here in the US, but don't do well in Holland.

I'd reach out to Bernard74 and other Dutch members to see what successes/failures they have had.

Thank you all.

My husband started the Lego-madness in this house :-D

Now we are both equally possessed haha.

He is for the selling and storing, I look for the bargains (off course, I am a woman and good at it)

It is true that Some series here are less popular. Also we dont have much storage, so we often have to make choices. That is sometimes very difficult, because we want off course all, and much of all....

Hartelijk welkom Marum!

If you already sold about 50 legosets I think there is not much I can teach you. Just buy cheap and be patient. Some go up in value overnight and some take till even long after retirement. Furthermore, keep reading the forum as you already do.

Veel succes en misschien doen we eens zaken via marktplaats.
