5 year old set on shelf at store - has this ever happened to you?

So i was walking around Meijer yesterday and on the shelf were these two retired sets on the shelf. they did not have a tag or anything, they were just sitting there. I know these were not there the week prior so they must have been hidden in the stockroom or something. Any anyone experienced this before?

I just bought a couple of sponge bob sets the other day, not quite as old, but same concept

This happened to me while I was shopping for groceries at a local supermarket. Found a couple SW sets from 2009. It happens once in a while.

There's one of these in the clearance section of one of my local Wal-Marts, busted open, beat to hell, still scans at $99.99.  I also found another Space Police set at a local Wal-Mart about 6 deep on the shelf and in good shape.  I think it was $13 or so.

There was a Kingdoms King's Castle set at the Roosevelt Field Mall Lego store (LI, NY) yesterday

A small chain toy store has a display full of the small Space Police sets still. They also have Atlantis and lots of small 4 numbered Technic sets.

I found Plo-Koon's Starfighter last year and Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator the year before at Walmart and a couple years ago I came across Ewok Attack at Target. Finding an old set sitting there on the shelf for no reason doesn't happen often but a nice surprise when it does.

It's my dream for this to happen with a desirable set, but I think my location is too urban for this to ever really happen.

Like the dude that cleaned up like 5 Harry Potter Castles and 8 The Burrow at Wal-Mart last Spring.

That would be epic.

This past Febuary, I found a lone 10212 Imperial Shuttle sitting on a shelf in TRU. When I asked an employee about it, he said they had just found it in the back room.

I think I'm going to cry...

How much was it??

here prices are 2x-3x US retail, but I recently found the outlet store where they send all the LEGO they don

Yes, 10188 Death Star.

Apart from that there's a store in my area specialized in Lego that has some older sets (but not so popular ones like Prince of Persia).

In normal stores not really.
