redghostx
I haven't seen this discussed yet: http://announcements.ebay.com/2014/10/good-news-for-top-rated-sellers-extended-holiday-returns-no-longer-required-for-top-rated-plus-benefits-but-will-earn-you-a-bonus-5-discount/?_trksid=p3984.m2301.l3955 Basically, eBay has modified its seasonal policy to no longer require extended returns for TRS this season. However, if you do offer extended returns you save an additional 5% on your FVF

Perhaps expensive champagne and paid trips to bahamas (hopefully during hurricane season) were involved. Darth_Raichu
Hi-la-ri-ous :D Apparently they realized removing the carrot was just going to cause a revolt. They opted to dangle a bigger carrot Now I have to rethink my plans ;) Edited October 28, 2014 by Darth_Raichu
zskid00
That is good news. I'll be passing on the additional FVF discount in favor of dropping the ridiculous extended return policy. I would think they received enough negative feedback from sellers to change this. I know I talked to them about it on the phone a couple weeks ago. adewar
Great news. So I believe the math is: Standard fvf .10 TRS fvf .08 TRS fvf (w/ext returns) .076 That's not much of an incentive for me anyway.

mscheaf
Someone still need to have a talk with effing Paypal and their ridiculous 180 day claim window ... It would be interesting to see how much a big time seller's sales numbers dropped off if they only allowed skrill and propay on their ebay listings. I can't tell whether it is 7.6% or 7.5% for the FVF discount (I didn't look that hard, as it's not important to me)

They even display the calculation when you click the "bonus 5% discount" link Edited October 28, 2014 by Darth_Raichu
jbacunn
Outstanding news. This was really worrying me especially with non Lego items. Forget the extra 5% for offering the extended returns. That's laughable.
TheBrickClique
Yup. I'm dropping the return silliness. Paypal may follow suit. They are the same company for now so I'm sure there are some animated talks going on internally. It will be interesting to see if anyone allows holiday returns. Because you can't get penalized in rankings if nobody adopts it...

And if this would mean 5 percentage points less FVF (5% instead of 10% for example), it might even be an incentive. But that would be too good... DoNotInsertIntoMouth
This is a tough consideration still because that 5% is all profit in reality. Its not affected by COGS (other than offering the returns). Last year my fees were about 3500$ for all of November, dec, Jan. 5% of that is $175... ... ... Lol I can't say any of this with a straight face. No way in hell I am doing extended returns.
