Veegs Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 if you were a LOTR/HObbit fan, and 10 years from now you wanted one set on your desk or shelf at work or home, you'd probably want this one. Orthanc tower is way too big for most folks, and Helms Deep is too wide. This one is perfect, and comes with a bunch of hobbitses. $50 today, $200 1 year after the line leaves the shelves. Bold on the $200 prediction...I think it might go that high, but I really don't think a year is a reasonable time frame for that kind of growth. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty and love the set, but it has had a good run and has been widely available and widely discounted at times. Quote

Not a chance this set ever hits $200, probably not even above $100 with all the BPers hoarding sets now. Just because people are reviving this thread there will be a few thousand more of this set stored away by investors/collectors. Edited October 26, 2014 by JRandall Quote
yannick29 Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Hello, Here in France, call to check avalability on Lego site. Amazon does not sell it anymore. It may be on its way to retirement Quote
Mathew Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 If this set suddenly disappears before Christmas I could see it hitting $100 quickly. Hard to say how many have been hoarded away. It was released when reselling was peaking and it's universally praised so my guess is that there are quite a few in storage. Quote

Wildemar Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I'm a little bit surprised that it wasn't mentioned yet, but 79003 is "Sold out" at LEGO Shop at Home Europe since at least Sunday. Quote

Now if only North America would move to sold out, BPers would panic buy up all the remaining brick and mortar stock and happiness would prevail! Quote

biking_tiger Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I'm glad to have a couple of Bilbo's houses tucked away for the future. This one will be gold in a few years--and I doubt we'll see a LEGO set like it (at least not for a long, long time). 1 Quote
mscheaf Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Went to WM on Telegraph Rd in St Louis County today. They had 5 of these for $54. I told the guy I was hoping they would be cheaper by now and he said I could have two for $45 each so I bought them. Quote
