TheDarkness Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 I think people will seriously regret leaving these around for too long. This is one of those mid range sets I intend on collecting a nice stash of. I currently have only 10, but aim to have at least 20. Regardless of how the Hobbit movies perform from here, the Bag End set will always draw the attention of the Lord of the Rings fans due to it's iconic nature. With three movies I doubt Lego would pull a short production run for it, but I see it as a set similar to the Burrow that fans will want big time. 1 Quote

This set is not flashy, but it it a gem nonetheless. You can find some very good deals on this set and it is available everywhere. A very good investment and display set. Quote
seapotato Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 I just got my hands on a used set last weekend and it is a great build. I'm looking to add some new in box ones to my collection. fingers crossed I get to see a discount. my walmart doesn't carry it. Quote

CNH1974 Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Haha, how many did you get. This set seems to be holding its price in Europe. In the UK, cheapest amazon has been Quote
Ronda Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 People were mentioning pretty sweet prices here on the forum. I want this set for my own collection, but I'll still wait. Quote
belljohn Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I just bought the last 2 at my Walmart at $49. The Unexpected Gathering was the only Hobbit sets they had. I wonder if the first wave is disappearing quickly, or maybe they just don't sell well? Either way, that seems like less product on the market in the long run. That can only help value growth. I don't have many because I had been waiting for sales this Christmas. I think I will speed up acquiring some of the whole collection. Imagine my surprise when they also had 15 Catwoman Catcycle (retired?) sets at $9. This was in Stoughton, WI. I might hit some Madison Walmarts and see what I kind find. Has anyone else in Madison checked lately? What did you see for Hobbit or Catwoman sets? Quote

Anakinisvader Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 If it does retire, will it be "unexpected"? 3 Quote
@rtisan Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 If it does retire, will it be "unexpected"? I recommend "gathering" multiples together asap, should the unexpected occur. 1 Quote
seapotato Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 there are a few at my wm, but not in the regular lego aisle. not discounted either Quote

Has anyone else in Madison checked lately? What did you see for Hobbit or Catwoman sets? The UGs that remain in Madison are retail price. It's funny you mentioned they had Catwoman. I used the Wal-Mart app when the clearances first hit this summer and it said Stoughton had them in stock. Well I quickly headed over there to grab them, but they were nowhere to be found---I scoured that store too. Must've been hiding in the stockroom. Passed on all the UGs at that store then---wish I hadn't, but I still have 4 so no biggie. Long story short, picked up 10x Catwoman today. Quote
jeff_14 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 These seem to be in short supply now. Not even listed on TRU Canada's website, and not in most of their stores that I've been to. Still showing on LEGO Shop at Home as available though. Quote
waddamon Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Lots of them here in NM. No discounts anywhere. I keep waiting but no luck. Quote
CNH1974 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Same in the UK, lego store, John Lewis, amazon etc... But no significant discounts. Amazon price is constantly 20% below RRP, eBay price for auctions is approx 25% below RRP for new and used. Quote
Alcarin Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Just letting everyone know that Unexpected gathering is 33% off on UK amazon page... for 40 pound grand total .... might be interesting for some especially Europeans! Quote
Guest TabbyBoy Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 If it does retire, will it be "unexpected"? Anything retiring at all these day is unexpected! Quote

whiteboy02 Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I'm glad I got one even though they're still in stock at my Target. Quote
h311m4n Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 TRU Switzerland currently has a 20% off all LEGOs which brings this set to 47CHF ~50$. That would be almost 50% off retail from LEGO Shop at Home. I did buy 5 Attack of the Wargs last month, can't seem to quick flip them at a huge profit. I think I'll pass on the gathering even though I kind of like the set, got other stuff to buy before Christmas...lol. Quote
Alcarin Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I would only trigger my wallet for this set at below 45 Quote
studontop Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Is it too soon to load up on these? I could get a few at $40 USD after taxes. Is the money better spent elsewhere? How many should I buy? Thanks Quote
