I am Niko
Not sure if there are different boxes for some retail stores or something, but I saw a new Hobbit set out tonight at Target, and it appeared to be a punch tab-style box:
Young_Gun21
The punch tab boxes come on smaller sets. They have been doing that for as long as I've been in this game (1 year). Found at all different retailers if it's a smaller set like that.

Hmm, I guess I should keep quiet then The only small sets I've bought recently are RI and Exo...everything else has been 1,000+ pieces. Not sure how I haven't noticed until now. Huskers1236
Punch tabs should be used on all Lego boxes. It would cure many issues that Lego fans face, whether they be collectors or sellers. Surely it can't be that much more expensive for Lego have a box with some perforations as opposed to a machine taping them.
