Popular Post Ed Mack Posted September 30, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 30, 2014 Hello fellow BrickPickers... Starting October 1, 2014, BrickPicker will be starting a BrickPicker Blog Group. In the past, we utilized blog contests to acquire new content. We would like to improve on that method and actually pay experienced and knowledgeable BrickPicker members to write new content for the site. The content will be similar to older blog articles and reviews, with a heavy emphasis on LEGO investing...but any quality LEGO topic can qualify. Qualified members will earn a $5 Gift Card to Amazon, LEGO S@H, etc... for every 1000 words/5000 characters in the content that is submitted and approved by Jeff and myself. There is a new application in the Wordpress blog editor that tracks this and the "readability" of the blog. It is one method that I will use to differentiate quality writing from poor writing and helps take photos and images out of the equation as well. I will talk more about this to approved blog writers. How does one become an approved blog writer? Several ways. Mods will have access to the group and will be able to post new content. Previous blog contest winners/runner ups are automatically qualified to be a blog writer. Jeff and I will invite some people who we think would be qualified to write content(if they are interested in doing so). Also, members can either produce content or show me previous work that indicates high literary ability. Approval is not guaranteed, but we will be honest and fair with any member that is interested in joining the group. We are trying to up the content bar. Jeff is working on a new homepage that will have a more interactive blog section to it. Some blog writers will have the ability to produce daily updates/content on the homepage that be front and center on the homepage. We want to produce "new" content, not just post links from other sites...and are willing to pay for it. If you are interested in joining this group and believe you are qualified, let me or Jeff know by PM. We will be sending out some invites to people over the next week or so. If you want to start writing, you can begin in the Wordpress blog editor. Please ask Jeff or I to enable your access to the Wordpress editor. There will be a private forum for blog writers and I will go over the new editor app and readability indexes with members. Also, Jeff will come up with a basic tracking system for blog writers that shows what they have produced and how much they earned. Any questions, please feel free to ask. Thanks... 11 Quote
Ed Mack Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 I'm looking for people who are interested in joining this group. So far we have all the Mods and Alpinemaps. If you are previous blog contest winner or runner up and want to join, let me know. If you never wrote a blog or article, but know you can and would like to give it a try, let me know and we will open up the Wordpress blog section to you so you can give it a try. I have made an introductory post in the blog writers group forum, so approved members can check it out. Thanks. Quote
Neosphinx Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Pick me pick me!!!! I promise I'll use a spelling corrector!!! Quote
Ed Mack Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 I will give people an opportunity to produce content, but I cannot promise that all of it will be acceptable. The only way I will find out if people can write is if I give them an opportunity to do so. 1 Quote
Ed Mack Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 I will add Neosphinx and chinothegeeko. Quote
Jeff Mack Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Just wanted to show the system we will be using to track peoples articles and payouts. We have lots of options for growth in the future if it works out. We can pay people via Paypal easily using this. These examples here are from past articles. 1 Quote
DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I would love to be a part of it. Quote
Jeff Mack Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I would love to be a part of it. I think I already had you part of it based on how many articles you have done in the past. You are set. 1 Quote

Not sure if the PayPal thing is set in stone, but I would rather see Amazon/Lego/Target e-gift cards. That's just me though, and it's not really much of an issue. Quote

It depends on how many people are working on content. If I need to payout 20 people after every month. I can do that in a few mouse clicks. If I need to order 20 giftcards from Lego or Amazon, I will be sitting there for while. We will see how it goes. Cash is a good thing Quote
exciter1 Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I might start by converting over some of my guides, etc. that I've put into posts in the past. Can have a running log of blog ideas? It might be a good to come up with some ideas to choose from, or just leave it free form. It doesn't matter either way. Quote

It should be open to you. Quote

Alpinemaps Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I don't seem to have access to the forum. I do think the forum is a great idea to make sure we aren't stepping on one another's toes with a particular idea or topic. Quote
Grolim Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 blog_payout2.jpg Man, that guy really has written a lot of crap. Maybe you should pay him to stop writing? Quote

I fixed the permission issue so you should see the forum under the Members Only section at the bottom. 1 Quote
rastascoob Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 While I have never written a blog I have written a journal back when we used to use pen and paper. I am still new to the resale business and have toyed with the idea of blogging my successes and failures doing this. I think my perspective of being completely new to this can help out others who are new because they will not know some of the basics and can learn right along with me. If this is something that interests you let me know. Quote
