Hopefully, anyway. My guess is that they will have some sort of non compete set up where they still provide for eBay for x number of years. Both sides will need to raise fees to pay all the consultants, lawyers, specialists involved with the split. Quote

This is a good time for a new platform to come in with some real competition. Paypal now has their hands with apple pay, square, alibaba,etcc Quote

I'm sure it will be even more confusing how they calculate fees or they will raise the low end fee percentage of receiving amount less than $20 to 3.2% plus 0.30. Just an example as I really have no clue. But things like this are rarely good for sellers. Hopefully things work out for us sellers once. Quote

Just a thought, but I've always questioned eBay/Paypal eating breakfast at the same table. I know eBay always accepted alternate forms of payment, but nobody really pushed the others. Why should they? Another question: how will this impact Paypal's new 180 day item not received/item not as described policy? Was the new policy put in place as a precursor to the split? Quote

Paypal was the breadwinner in this relationship but Ebay was dead weight for shareholders. This will mean ebay will likely open up its platform to alot more payment processors. Stripe was rated the number one processor for 2014 so ebay would be foolish not to integrate it. Also apple pay will be a dominant player in 1-2 years so ebay will have to take them onboard. If Jack Ma introduces a platform in the USA and keeps it free for a number of years (as is his MO) ebay will decline alot faster than it already is under John Donahoe. No doubt they see the writing on the wall. Let's not forget google as a possible buyer for ebay after the split. In 5 years ebay will be like overstock is today. 2 Quote
