Have posted this but will post it again: am using Walmart price-match@$59 to get the 31012 Family House + wizard's battle x2 @10.10 Walmart price-match. This puts me right at eighty bucks for sets I am bullish on. As Exciter has noted, not all TRU's will honor price-match and honor the freebie; I have had two TRU's allow it and one refuse.

Best ROI on this set will be the 4-pack. Personally I find these sets to be of low appeal, but to each their own. There is $ to be made with them.

$59 for a fam house is a bit steep. was getting these at $30-35 during target clearance. i too ran into one out of three TRUs not honoring the pricematch/bricktober/pumpkin combo. One TRU also set a limit on number of sets they can pricematch per transaction to 2, though they allowed bricktober/pumpkin.

Those clearance deals are YMMV and most people are lucky to get 30% off at their local stores before they get wiped out.  Very few have the chance to grab this at 50% off.  Since this is sold out from LEGO I would say a small discount is better than nothing since it's days are numbered.  That is unless TRU bought a warehouse full of them to keep in stock for the next year.

Thats true however, i swiped upwards of 10 at 50% off so they werent that sparse and im sure many have loaded up on them.

Both great points... It is a risk/reward debate for holding for better discounting Vs. Securing some now in the event this set is done.

If you missed out on earlier weeks' sets, be nice but persistent and ask them to look (preferably before you check out).

 

I got two pizza parlors at one store and three theatres at another today - one of each was substituted for my freebie fire station with zero register hassle (for the substitution, not the whole process, lol).

Went to my local tru they didn't have any fire stations but they went in the back and got all 10 cases of town halls and said they were happy to sell all of them to me. THANK YOU!!!

Just left the second store in our area and they had a series 1 mixel and lots of clearance items like palatines arrest etc. they only had 3 fire stations, 2 pizza, and 1 theater so I got what I could.

Problem with living in such a secluded area not much around. Saw a ton of stuff in Cali though! I could only imagine having 7 identities for each lego store in SoCal and being able to visit tons of toys r us. The traffic is horrible in so cal though. I could probably only imagine visiting all of those places in 1 or 2 days once a month.

Heading to the 3rd and last tru now!

Wow that is crazy they let you buy their entire inventory on the morning of a week long promotion! I bet some of their other customers might be a little peeved when they come in over the next few days hoping to complete their modular series. I was at my TRU at 10am this morning for the same reason but in my case I can only afford to buy 2 of each week. 1 to build and 1 complete set to save.

EDIT: this may have been mentioned before but I see the town hall has 2 technic pins on the right hand side sticking out on the instructions - does this mean there may be a 5th of these modulates to come?

Problem with living in such a secluded area not much around. Saw a ton of stuff in Cali though! I could only imagine having 7 identities for each lego store in SoCal and being able to visit tons of toys r us. The traffic is horrible in so cal though. I could probably only imagine visiting all of those places in 1 or 2 days once a month.

Lol I don't feel bad. Everyone could have gone in at 10am to get them and the other 2 try locations still have tons.

I don't feel bad because so many here on this site are able to ****** up 4-8 copies of haunted houses etc when they pop up for retail on amazon and Walmart etc and I haven't even been able to get 1. I don't sit at a computer all day so I'm not able to get those deals fast enough when someone posts it. But I can be the first person in line outside of a store at 10am

Just left the last tru!!

Bought 5 cases of fire stations and a case of pizza and 5 red series 1 mixels!! Rings up discontinued but it was still for sale

Yes I know you and others say share the wealth. I'm sure there are several members on this forum that are also well off. Doesn't mean we want to pay 2x retail to get the item. I'm sure you can understand that. Another thing is maybe you don't understand this because of what you posted but a lot of people that have money and make a lot of money didnt get that way by buying things at 2x retail. If I wanted a Taj Mahal modular okay I have to pay 1500 or 2k whatever it is because its no longer available but the haunted house still seems to be available you just have to follow all of the sites that track inventory etc etc. anyways enough talking for me! Time to go do something fun!

I have been low key.  Tomorrow I will go back and trade 8 more Cinema's I bought for 8 of Week 4 even exchange and then have 8 full sets to flip bought at retail price except of course however many were the 1 free for each 4.  Happy with that.

 

I plan to ask my friend tomorrow if they are able to sell week 1-3 and if so I'll ask to buy enough to get another 4 complete sets tomorrow but if not it is ok.

 

I wanted to gamble with 8 sets but not wanting to gamble with dozens of sets though I think it would be a safe bet.

My TRU in SoCal had them behind the counter today, which is counter to how they've been doing it.

 

Week 1 - Behind the counter, nothing on the shelf

Week 2 - Both week 1 and week 2 on the shelf

Week 3 - All three weeks on the shelf

Week 4 (today) - Weeks 1-3 on the shelf; week 4 behind the counter

 

I've got a set for myself, which is all I really wanted.  I do think this is a good investment, I'm just not picking it up.

Nice! Yea I think they are a safe bet getting them for about 16$ each so I'm happy with that. Going to save a few sets for next year as well. I'm glad the exchanging deal is working out for you. I always think to go and do it but then I never get to it.

Are you buying R2D2 because its been out for awhile and might retire soon? I see them everytime I go to my local lego store so I never think much about them

R2 may last a good while or it may be gone soon I do not think anyone really knows exact timing.  But I know this much it is an iconic set one of my favorite all time Star Wars characters and I can see it having a really nice ROI long term.  So while I can accumulate 10% back i VIP and free 40106's I am trying to get all that I can.  People say to start early on collecting a set and some I have but this is one I am trying to be proactive in adding to inventory and will keep doing so.  I want to have plenty of it when the day comes.  If it does become a death star which I do not see that happening I can unload them and not lose much on the adventure.

Yea true if you ever need to unload any the promo makes it so you probably won't lose more then 5-10$ maybe if that. I need to go and buy some more stuff though while its double VIP and the promo. Can't imagine there's ever a better time to stock up on inventory then oct.

I live in a pretty isolated area nothing for hundreds of miles so I cleaned out my area. Nothing extra here. I might be going to Cali next week though so I can let you know if I run into anything

Which would be a better purchase to get the modulars; The Bat Cave or the Cargo Terminal, price matched to Target at $80? I already have 5 Bat Caves, but no Terminals yet.
