Guest TabbyBoy Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Might very well be my first UCS purchase ever Might very well be my first UCS purchase ever Why not the SSD? It's still available for backorder with 5 max and you may get lucky. Quote
Crustybeaver Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Not just drool I'll be mopping up from my keyboard in my case, it's THAT good! It can only be destined for greatness. I agree, this is one hell of a design. The quality of the Lego builds over the last year have been very impressive. Quote
trekgate502 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Everything is awesome including this! Quote
trekgate502 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I have lost the old link I had to a photo from Lego headquarters rumored to be showing a Slave I behind a glass wall with other sets. Does anyone have that photo still to see if this matches it identically? Quote
jharrison Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 A UCS set with swooshability!!!!!! I know what my October vip points are going to buy me. Are we taking bets yet on how fast this goes oos? Especially if they do early vip in December (pretty please) Quote
MartinP Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Could this be the turboflip of turboflips if Lego underestimate demand? Of course, you'll have to visit lots of shops on day one assuming it's an early VIP release. I think Lego is going to underestimate the demand for the Slave I just like they did with the Tumbler. I can see potential for turboflipping the set if you can't find it anywhere. Quote
dcdfan Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Hmm...not sure if this has been mentioned (if so apologies) but I'm reading this is to release officially January. So, if VIPs would get it for 2 months early seems really odd to me. Quote
bricker123 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Do you think slave 1 looks good because it uses lots of unique bricks to make up the shape? If that's the case would it make the set more regular toy or mega Blok like? Like a easy way out instead of the higher standard from Lego ideas when the set has to use existing bricks... Anyhow still likes it but wondering long term wise would this take away some of the creativeness that Lego set shows before. Quote

Yes, according to the release on brickset (http://brickset.com/article/12593/75060-ucs-slave-i-revealed), the release date is Jan. 1, 2015. So, at best, VIPs might get early access in mid-December. gregpj Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 (edited) I didn't like it at first... But the more I've seen it, and now seeing how freaking big it is. Awesome! Don't think it'll fit in my new Detolf cabinet though. :( Edited October 4, 2014 by gregpj Quote
bricketycricket Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I also like how the CAD pricing is more reasonable on this one than on other sets 1 Quote
speedsausage Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I also like how the CAD pricing is more reasonable on this one than on other sets I haven't seen the pricing for a slave yet but it's nice to see the cdn prices getting closer to US pricing eg. 10243 PR, 190cdn/160us. Quote
speedsausage Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 ^^ Not bad. I'm guessing US is $200? Quote
bricketycricket Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Yep, from the description on the design video: US $199.99 - CA $229.99 - DE 199.99 Quote

Especially if they do early vip in December (pretty please) I have feeling Nike is going to go after TLG for using the word "swoosh" in the video! Quote
hannibal Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 OMG!!!! That thing is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!!! The whole set is sooooo well made, I am already itching! By the way, do you guys think then that this set is a direct re-placement of the Red 5 X-Wing? In terms of price range and number pieces its the closest thing to the X-Wing. With the Super Star Destroyer leaving the stage, its the Sandcrawler currently being the flagship of SW sets and this one ties up nicely with the X-Wing... interesting... within a minute of its availability to purchase, I am ordering one! jbacunn Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 (edited) This is spectacular! The design is awesome. I can't believe how big it is! It looks great on the display stand. This is a must buy on day 1 and could be a great flip because it could be a quick sell out. I wonder what the limit will be 1 or 2? Edited October 4, 2014 by jbacunn Quote
Ed Mack Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Well done and accurate set. Ugly, but beautiful at the same time. Sturdy. Nice display as well. Looks like it will attract both young and old fans. Great minifigs...and to scale. Dynamic investment set. Quote
ericb Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 (edited) I prefer the ship to appear a bit more dirty and weathered. It looks too clean. The sand green is nice, though. Edited October 4, 2014 by ericb Quote
trekgate502 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Brick fan has 2015 SW official images. I love slave I and wookie gunship but the rest not so much? Any other standouts to you? Quote

sadowsk1 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I like it and will buy it. I do wish they would have done something with the interior though. Quote
nolanfan34 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Saw it in person today at Brickcon. It was in a display case. I totally didn't catch how detailed the bottom/back was. Awesome. Quote
