glenbart
Teen girls are different than thirtysomething women...who have more spending money too Actually now this is making me wonder...who IS paying $80+ dollars for 3187 these days? Girls grow up quicker. There is a big fence to be sat on with te friends theme.
waddamon
I expect to hold longer term olivias house and summer riding camp. All the rest will be gone this and next christmas. Right now my Friends portfolio is sitting at about !00% gross ROR. I expect this to almost double from here by next christmas. Olivias house and riding camp will be sold sometime in 2016. I am able to pick up olivias houses at 30 each, but only 3 at a time. I think this is a sure winner.

Dads who spoil their little princesses . My last pair of 3187 and dog show were sold for more than 3x MSRP last Christmas I do not think this kind of quick flip is possible with the newer sets because they are not as scarce as the 2012 sets. Thirtysomething women are into the Modular theme. Think Grand Emporium or Parisian Restaurant. You will make more on these than you will with Friends. Not trying to crap on it because have actually bought most of them and they are fun and the colors are awesome. Unless there is some super rare brick or color, I just don't see this being worth it. allen9917
Well the Olivia house is not retired so no wonder it is being discounted. The bakery is a 2013 set. Is the vet still available in uk?
glenbart
The Olivia house has been around since January 2012.... No sign of retirement, I'm going to check sales numbers of the more popular friends sets just to see how much demand there actually is for them. mcortez
Actually now this is making me wonder...who IS paying $80+ dollars for 3187 these days? Father's instructed by their wife to find the set for their daughter, or else... Perhaps due to be being on an old Christmas or birthday wish list? I just recently picked up a HL Stables 3189 from a kmart that's closing for $35+tax after clearance pricing and SYWR. Trying to decide if I should list it now, or hold it for Christmas... Trying to decide if I should list it now, or hold it for Christmas... You won't go wrong holding it until Christmas and it's surely to reach close to $100 then. I've sold a few in a bundle, just to take the money and soak into other investments.
Darth_Raichu
I actually do not think vet and stable would ever reach $100 because of similar newer sets. Seriously TLG, enough with horses already.
mcortez
I actually do not think vet and stable would ever reach $100 because of similar newer sets. Seriously TLG, enough with horses already. It may be a regional thing and may even be a generational thing, but my significant other commented that for girls -- there is no such thing as too many horses -- that is, until they get interested in boys Than again, California ranks only 2nd to Texas for number of horses -- but the equine population is dropping off. When I was a kid I knew lots of people in Orange County that owned horses, but now I don't know any. There used to be huge numbers of homes that were considered "horse property" -- they had backyards big enough to have a horse corral and the neighborhoods often had horse trails through them. Many of those neighborhoods have been bulldozed and replaced with condos and homes with high sq/ft but essentially no front, side or back yards. allen9917
It is apparent that Lego extended the production for olivia house, summer riding camp and horse trailer, so the fact that they are still available is no sign of weaker sets. The concern should be whether this theme is true winner after hype is gone.
Crustybeaver
It bloody well better be a winner because I have a pile of Olivia's Houses, Riding Camps and Stables that I want to offload this Christmas
glenbart
John Lewis alone has 662 Olivia's house, so they will have to sell over 60 a month to be OOS by Christmas, I think the used market will affect what can be sold new sealed, given that many afols collect star wars, superheroes, technic, modulars, I don't think the friends theme is the same kettle of fish. JL also have 374 riding camps, but being a higher priced set it will move slower.
Crustybeaver
I agree but they'll be on a few Christmas lists come this December Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker
glenbart
Agreed, but many gifts are bought without the asking, gran will probably go for something they know they haven't got like the Disney princess line. Even at full price cinders castle is a great buy at 60 quid.
glenbart
Sooner or later Lego will run out of ideas with friends or start making very similar sets, like they have started to do already.
exciter1
This is a pretty cool Olivia's House Edition: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-Friends-3315-Olivias-House-Custom-Garage-Addition-/191129339812?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item2c803247a4
Stevenplays
I love being friends! Wait... I don't think this is what you meant with the post... Overall, the theme is alright in my book, the mini-dolls are nice, love the detail on them.
mario.lalonde
For whom it matters, anybody with an opinion on the Friends lego theme is welcome. On my side, I was wondering if it's a good thing to grab the 2012 sets who are still available for an investment purpose. For example Olivia House. Thanks. Please check out the threads underneath the Friends section on the forum. isocleas
Most of the first wave friends sets have done very well. Olivia's house, summer riding camp (toys r us), and Emma's horse trailer are the only 3 left and imo they'll be gone by xmas. So if you can find Olivia's house on sale grab a few.
Ciglione
I own some (mostly rare 2012) friends sets now and listed almost all of them. No sales yet. Little interest. Even when my asking prices are steals on some of them. Makes me wonder. Is this really a good theme for investment? All my hopes now are on the Xmas season. I will try to sell them all and be done and over with this theme.
brickswelt
I think it is a good theme. But it depends on the sets. Which Sets you have and where you list it? And for what prizes? The 3187 and 3188 are/were good sellers, for example.

The 3187 and 3188 are/were good sellers, for example. I listed them on ebay and my local craig's list. I prized them very competitive (lowest for new in sealed). I have: 3061, 3063, 3184 (3), 3186, 3187, 3188 (3), 3930, 3933, 3934 and 3939.
brickwizard
Personally not a fan of the theme - I don't really see the need of the girls specialised theme, and just think that generally more female figures should be brought into the main themes. I had never thought of investing in this line though - but the posts above emphasising the rare(ish) colour pieces for parting out sets is an interesting idea
