airhanny Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Hi everyone, I had not been following LEGO quite few months and I just realized SSD had retired. Where do you think I can still score one at retail price USD399? Thanks Quote
koni Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Will there be double VIP points in Octobre? Have they been in the past? In German Lego shoppe? Quote

koni Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I am wondering why they should go EOL when they are shown in the current catalogue... Quote
Ed Mack Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I am wondering why they should go EOL when they are shown in the current catalogue... The catalog lags behind reality. Quote
No More Monkeys Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 The catalog lags behind reality. I would phrase it differently - catalog, at the time of its design phase, reflects the availability picture as of that time, which could change drastically by the time catalog is actually printed and delivered. There are some folks here familiar with printing process - they can tell approximate lead times for something to be printed on a scale that Lego has to do it. 1 Quote

I think your comments are right on (and match lagging too). I doubt design and manufacturing talk that much together to strategically time the catalog even though they should. Typically I would give it 60 days to design a catalog, up to 4 weeks to print bind and ship 1,000,000 copies if your not doing a rush job and your printing it regionally, longer if they are moving the 1,000,000 copies on a boat from Europe to USA. They do a good job factoring everything they have to do but you are able to see they do not follow the policy of keep it in stock everywhere and build more if needed until the next refreshed catalog is fully distributed and then stop production of old sets. airhanny Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 OK guys, started yesterday as an investor in Lego. Bought 2 SSD's for Quote
Locutus001 Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I wish I could have emazers confidence when it comes to the SSD. 1 Quote
PapaVelle Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Hi, Where did you buy SSD for 320 euro? Well, you can buy it currently in Belgium in a shop called "Dreamland". Until the end of September, they give 20% redux on Star Wars Lego if you buy 2 sets. I'm not sure you can buy there from outside Belgium though. Quote
Locutus001 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I've seen it as well but if I put 2x SSD in the basket it still tells you that it costs 799,98 Quote
