newbie77
I think there are two different LEGO secondary markets...The US market and everybody else. The SSDs in Europe and the UK are not a consideration for US customers. Taking into consideration the currency conversion, import fees and taxes and shipping costs, a SSD from overseas will be close to $700(US). ed, looks like you are going to be correct on your statement that "there are not many held for resale" . i am seeing less than 17 listing in ebay? kind of surprised .. i expected lot more.. trekgate502
repeating my earlier post the cheapest on ebay is now slightly over $700. This means it has < $100 to reach the $800 goal. I think $800 for this year is highly conservative.

flipsi
I just recently sold mine outside of EBAY for $625 to my pocket so if it was an EBAY this thing should have sold for $720 if I wanted to take into account the 14% ebay and paypal fees. This thing never had a problem finding a buyer. Listed on ebay for $699 got hammered with emails on the first day somehow found a way to contact local guy who emailed cancelled the listing since nobody bidded yet and sold to local guy for $625. I know I will still be regretting this sale someday, but its time to buy 4 GE's while its available retail at Lego.

tractorboy
finally took the plunge in uk - how long do european retirements normally lag behind US. It varies from set to set. Sometimes sets get retired in the EU first. We don't know when it will retire in the EU, only that it will be soon enough, when stocks run out. tractorboy
it will be interesting to see the time lag - just missed so many things thought i would get on with it. Yeah, better late than never. I'm hoping it will still be around for 2xVIP in October and I'll get another one or two, then I'm done. EU stocks could take a pounding if it's still around by then. DoNotInsertIntoMouth
It really is too bad this set retired in the US before double VIP this year.
MartinP
It really is too bad this set retired in the US before double VIP this year. People had their chance to get the SSD while double VIP points in April this year, but many people didn't and then were trying to buy them when they were in and out of stock throughout the summer. I think that a lot of investors feared that the SSD would become the new Death star (staying in the place for ever), and prefered to wait for real signs of retirement.
