Backordered SSD arrived today from LEGO Shop at Home - 19R4 - excellent condition box

box of SSD itself is so sturdy its rare that it gets damaged unless its shipped from TRU :)

btw curious are they sending it double boxed or just SSD in a box with padding?

when i say double boxed, couple of SSD and DS i bought from TARGET and Walmart ( in 2012) came actually in a box from lego and they were inside different box.

Sorry if I got an SSD today from LEGO Shop at Home that did not come in a Lego box, just the SSD box in a ship box, where do I look for the code?

On an interesting note, and I am sure the code experts here already know, but my DS 10188 that arrived today the box had a "Production Date:" on it with 140705 and a "Production YYMM:" that had 1407.  That was on a lego branded box that the DS was in which was put into a ship box.

Well, two corners of mine were a little dented in and it was shipped from LEGO Shop at Home in a regular cardboard box with air cushions on one side, which explains why only that one edge was dented.

I shouldn't have read this thread after this many jupiler...why still buy and not just leave it die in pieces. How many ssd's do you need in your inventory?

As many as I can buy without having my wife kick me out of the house. She told me years ago not to buy 2 10179s for $400 each(last of Amazons inventory) and I have regretted that moment eve since.

Please tell me you pull up the 10179 completed auctions every day and email it to her.

I try to forget my moment of weakness. I had my finger on the complete transaction button and like a stupid husband...I asked her for her opinion.

Why when you know what she will say. If I know my wife will oppose my opinion, I talk about her hair or nails instead if asking silly question

Timing in life is everything. My wife was pregnant with my son, Max, and we were cutting back on expenses and my original voyage into the Land of LEGO Investing was nearing an end. Dropping $800 on two LEGO sets at the time seemed frivolous.

It was two years later that I realized LEGO sets were fantastic investments and Jeff and I came up with the idea for this site.

SSD finally approaching $700 on eBay for new/undamaged units. There is a small cluster of sellers competing at $700, then 2 sellers priced between $700-$800, 5 sellers between $800-$900, and another 3 sellers between $900-$1000. The picture on Amzn is a bit different, higher prices, but with more sellers concentrated between $700-$800.

back to 10221... what does the crystal ball say with regard to its potential and price.

it already reached 699. will it get a bump in x-mas time and may be after the new movies are out?

i am thinking of selling half of my inventory :).

Not sure I see the $699, at least not on eBay.  Amazon appears to be over that, though I have no idea if they're actually selling at that price.  eBay at the moment looks more like $650 - $660 (including shipping; lazy buyers who haven't yet figured out how to change the listing sort order from "Best Match" might occasionally pick one up at $699).  It's not an enormous difference from $660 to $699, except to note that the set has not really moved in price over the last few months.  The point being, yes, it will move up from here, but I would expect it to do so much, much more slowly.  The pattern with most sets (10197, for example) is a quick, nice bump in price right after EOL, and then a slow, steady appreciation from there.  If you need to free up space or money, you'd do better selling the SSD's now and picking up something not quite EOL that you can still find occasionally at retail, like GE or the Camper Van.  On the other hand, if cash and space are plentiful, I'd rather sit on the SSD's than just about any paper investment (10-year treasuries at 2.5% anyone?).
