matt1147 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I've got one at retail...I would like to have more, but only if they're on sale. Not holding my breath.... Quote
Guest brickcrazyhouse Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 DNIIM great last option for voting I have one ssd but my better half would of killed me if we didn't build it. I think emazers is right, with one clause. Everyone should have a couple, if they have that level of disposable income. $4,500 (about) is a lot of money for investing in one set but I bet E will be super happy 5 years from now Quote
eracine Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I ended up with 3. My son and I built one it was and is awesome it displays well with our other UCS. I have the other 2 safely stored away. Hope to see double but we will see. Quote
BrickPick3r Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 How do you all display it? I'm the one who alway afraid of dust and open air display Quote
Guest brickcrazyhouse Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 ours is on the a spare table (in gallery) and don't worry about the air try having two smokers in a apt. We have to keep one big set in the cleaning process at all times. but we do get to build a lot. kids don't smoke seriously don't Quote

Diabolos80 Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I have 2, one is for sale right now to help recoup the cost of a Death Star to build. I don't think I'll ever build my other SSD... But I like having it around, for sure. Probably I'll keep it. Quote
Anakinisvader Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I misread the title and thought it said: STD's. I've only had 4 and they were from the toilet seat. 3 Quote

Read this thread again, except this time replace SSD with STD... Fantastic fun. Someone has 15 and he's happy about it, yuck. How do you display yours? Is there room for it on my coffee table? Quote

segreto Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Any idea what the value of the set would be if it were parted out? At over 3k pieces, it looks like it might be a good value when you see how large some of the plates are, but I am only guessing. Also, the minis look to sell for a decent price right now ($40 - 50) from the listings I just looked up. Quote

How do you display yours? Is there room for it on my coffee table? I had to lay mine out at the football stadium and both goals were still getting in the way! SS Nimitz may just about have enough room on the top deck. Quote

But looking through it, it doesn't include most of the giant plates. I would say it would have pretty good value because some of those pieces will be $10 or more. 1 Quote

blocktator Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Anyone know what is the break even number if selling on ebay (given you buy at $400)? Quote
MartinP Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Anyone know what is the break even number if selling on ebay (given you buy at $400)? Probably somewhere above $450+ or even higher after fees and possibly shipping. Quote
DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Anyone know what is the break even number if selling on ebay (given you buy at $400)? $35 in shipping or so. I would say $40 to be sure. Then you add fees - if you aren't a power or top seller, the equation would be $400 / .87 + $40 = 499.75 So $500 is where you break even. 1 Quote

Though you could subtract the VIP and other credits you used to get them or get when you buy one. This month, its 40.00 in VIP for this. Add 15.00 for using my Discover and I can safely take off a little over $50.00. Quote
