LEGO HULK Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Wow, great deal on this. Been one of those expensive sets thats be hard to explain to the wife, but this is a great deal for a newer Star Wars UCS set. I don't think she will be made on this. YES!!! Quote
ViciousBrick Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I consulted with the "Boss", she let me buy both of these deals. Early X-Mas presents she said.. Quote
stackables Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I think LEGO Shop at Home had it for 20% off for May 5th. That is when I picked up the SSD. Quote
Jeff Mack Posted September 9, 2012 Author Posted September 9, 2012 Yes, thats when I bought my first one. Couldn't let that one slip by. Quote
sgoldham Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Bought one in May when LEGO Shop at Home had it on sale but picked up 10188 today for the same price!!!! Quote
LEGO_VORTEX Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Oh boy, this is exciting. I hope I can get one of these before the sale expires or they run out. Quote
dschooley Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Thanks for the head's up. I just picked up a 10188. I picked up the Super Star Destroyer in May when LEGO had their sale then. I couldn't pass it up. :-) Quote
Jeff Mack Posted September 10, 2012 Author Posted September 10, 2012 That's great. You will never go wrong with one of these sets. Quote
Ed Mack Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Thanks for the head's up. I just picked up a 10188. I picked up the Super Star Destroyer in May when LEGO had their sale then. I couldn't pass it up. :-)The 10188 is an excellent buy at this price. There is a $100 in minifigures alone, not to mention the value of 3700 LEGO bricks. Quote
Doofy McGee Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 As someone who would love to build this set, but will probably never be able to afford it while it's available at (or below) MSRP, I would like to hear from anybody who has had the opportunity to build it. I am guessing that it was pure awesomeness, but I am looking for confirmation on this. Please feel free to share your stories. I need to live vicariously through others on this one! Thanks! Quote
Ed Mack Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Build a LEGO set and open a sealed box???? Blasphemy!!! LOL Quote
Doofy McGee Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 That was a trick question Ed. Of course no one has ever opened a box and actually built it! ;) Quote
Ed Mack Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 That was a trick question Ed. Of course no one has ever opened a box and actually built it! Good one. For a moment there, I was going to have to send you on your way to Brickset or Eurobricks. We don't build LEGO sets around here. We are too busy counting our profits. LOL Quote
Doofy McGee Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Tell me about it. Why, just the other day I bought 10 Super Star Destroyer sets just so I could throw them away! That's how solid the money has been! :) Quote

Doofy McGee Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 The dumpster is all the way in Minnesota. You'd eat up most of your profits just getting here and back. :) Quote
Rich B Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 The dumpster is all the way in Minnesota. You'd eat up most of your profits just getting here and back. I'm purchasing my plane tickets now haha jk Quote
bibious Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I just got two... Resisting as best I can but there is a good chance I might have to open one and build it! Quote
Doofy McGee Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Yeah, that temptation will get you every time. I bought the Black Pearl a few months back, and it stayed sealed for all of a week and a half. It was calling my name. Resistance was futile. I wish you the best of luck, but please get back to me if you build it! :) Quote
Lateral-G Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I just got one to build. I'll let you know... Quote
Danny Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I purchased one and actually opened the box (which is more than most can probably say on this site) ...Just to get a view of the manual. (I am a manual guy, what can I say) It is super awesome and big (think UCS Millenium Falcon big...a set I don't own but bought the manual from Lego Replacement Parts for $55 before they were no longer available last year). I was also very impressed how the inner boxing worked, it had a box just for the manual. I will be building this set. Just as a side note, I love these monster manuals. So far I have only come across 4 that don't confine with the normal manual size. 10179, 10143, 10030 and this one 10221. The rest I eagerly file away in a Lego Manual File Cabinet by Set type. Does anyone know other sets with oversized manuals? I much prefer them over the 2-4 books that come with sets like Taj Mahal and Imperial Shuttle. I know what you are thinking, I am a nut for loving manuals. And to think as crazy as I am about them, I somehow misplaced my Statue of Liberty and Cafe Corner manuals! It drive me nuts to think I might have thrown them away accidently when moving. 1 Quote

I don't think you're a nut at all, you're just very passionate about Lego, as we all are I too try to keep all of my instruction manuals in pristine shape, but I have lost a couple over the years and believe me it frustrates me like crazy as well. I could be wrong, but I think that 10188 comes with the bigger manuals like the other big sets you listed, I'm not 100% positive though. Quote
Ed Mack Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 How I solve the issue of not wanting to open a MISB LEGO set...Buy a "used" set...so I don't feel guilty and get a discount. Quote
