slobey Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 I'm planning to grab a few of these to stash away for a rainy day. What's peoples opinion on the investment future of this set? Certain winner? Quote
M4x18 Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 As has happened with the previous Ninjago dragons, I don't see why this would not be a home run. I'm planning on getting some for me as well. Quote
dpwagner Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 I think it's a great set and will be picking up quite a few. Quote
littlenicky Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Just make sure to buy at a discounted rate and it should be fine. Quote
Snowcrash Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Love to hear everyone's thoughts about this set. Looking at recent history all of the other Ninjago dragon sets have done extremely well once they've hit EOL. I'm willing to bet anyone who acquires this set sub $25 will do very well once it hits retirement. Closest price point/size for comparison would be 2260 (ice dragon) which looks to have already returned a 400%+ investment. Quote
cvail8 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 These are already hard to find and selling above retail price. With the golden ninja in them, they are probably going to go for crazy prices once EOL. Quote
jepjepjepjep Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 would invest money ln 2012 sets first. these sets just came out. would you buy your kid a ninjago toy thats 400 percent above srp? i wouldn't ) lego amazon tru target all has this in stock. i don't understand why people are buying from 3rd party sellers. Snowcrash Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 This set was just recently released, and people are paying inflated prices to get their hands on it first. Sometimes this is out of greed, sometimes out of ignorance. This set will likely be available for most of the year, and on sale at various times from different vendors. Everyone should have ample opportunities to get it so no need to panic. If one were so inclined however it is available online from multiple retailers including Amazon right now for MSRP, so if you absolutely must own one for collecting purposes and couldn't live with yourself without one just buy it now for full price and be done with it. I know for me personally if I were collecting Lego I would be kicking myself if I missed out on a set like this while hoping to save 5$ on an Amazon sale. It isn't a hugely expensive set, so I doubt it will come down all that much in price. I, however, am speculating that 1) this set will be available for much of 2013, 2) It will be available sub 25$ at various times throughout the year, 3) At those times it would be a good target for buying multiple sets to invest in based on the performance of past Ninjago dragon sets. Discuss :) Quote
cvail8 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I think this set will return huge gains in just a couple years. The other recently retired Ninjago sets are going for big money, and this one has the Golden Ninja that is only in this set and the 70505 Temple of Light. When these go on sale, buy every one that you can get your hands on. Quote
Sauromosis Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Tried to buy the value bundle, and it stopped me in the middle. Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Will this set be a winner???? Quote
littlenicky Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Yes. Golden Lloyd = Golden Profits. =) Quote
TheOrcKing Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Totally. Golden Dragon, Golden Ninja (or Ultimate Lloyd), two baddies, great price range. Yep. I'd say this one is firing on all cylinders! Quote
Snowcrash Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 I've already started to accumulate this set. I predict it will do extremely well, and I will not be able to get the kind of volume I'd like on deep discount. I think I grabbed every one they had at TRU in Las Vegas this week. About 10% off with the current sale after taxes. Quote
TheDarkness Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Is the set exclusive to anywhere? Quote
Snowcrash Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 No, but it seems to be very popular and may be tough to find. The good news is it should be out all year so you'll have plenty of time to get your hands on some. Quote
TheDarkness Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Cheers for that. I've been checking over a few of the older Ninjago sets, but haven't paid much attention to any of the new ones. Quote
Darth Lego Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 This set will be a winner in my book... got to stock up before this goes EOL sometime this year. Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Cool just picked up a few......this might be the one and only set I stockpile, I am not a big fan of stockpiling a single set but I have a good feeling about this one. Quote
comicblast Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Definite winner. If Ninjago continues, which it probably will, this will be one minifigure that kids in 5 years will be begging their parents for. Figure alone could be worth $25+ down the road..... Quote
Legodog Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 The Ninjago Golden Dragon is currently 17% off at Amazon.com. This makes the price $24.97. http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Ninjago-Golden-Dragon-70503/dp/B00A88EP6Y/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pdT1_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2JVXWG00KZ5VM&coliid=I3BCLPU6IX55AZ Quote
Snowcrash Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Limit of 2 per account. Boo Amazon... Quote
exciter1 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 They can do better, this is still a newer set. It will hit 25% - 30% off eventually. Quote
