You submitted the certifications through Seller Central?  The directions gave a separate email address to send them to.

Once I sent the email, a case was created.  They responded to the case with what I included above. I responded to the corresponding case this morning by reuploading the certifications I originally attached to the email.

I didn't realize it created a case.  I just submitted this morning and see the case now.

Seems it was auto generated once they looked at your email from before. I got the same thing. Something tells me the other documentation we sent in wasn't even looked at. As there is no message here stating those forms were not acceptable. Just guessing here.

The "fulfillment by Amazon required" message is related to the Holiday toy selling restrictions.  If you didn't sell 25 merchant fulfilled orders during the qualifying period (it ended October 1) then you can only use FBA for toys for the rest of the year.  The e-mails with ASINs listed asking for safety documents are different and have nothing to do with the holiday restrictions.

I didn't ship 25 FBM during the period.  I previously got an email saying I can't FBM toys, and then this morning just got a generic reminder with no yes/no.  

And of course Amazon lets me list toys FBM, so.....as usual, go home Amazon, you're drunk.

They haven't turned it off for me yet either, but I am getting the same message in the app shown above.

For those of you with a professional seller account on Amazon, is it worth it?  About how long does the application process take and what sort of documentation, if any, do they ask for?  Also, is this something you can opt out of if you decide it isn't worth it in a couple months?

It definitely saves if you do some volume and sell more than 40 items a month, since it saves you the $0.99 listing fee per item that you are charged with a non-Professional Account.  There are some seller interface advantages and dashboards that can come in handy.  I don't think it took much time at all to sign-up and be approved.  It's easy to revert back by clicking on a button in your account settings and answering a couple questions.

also it gives you more control over your shipping settings

I would suggest doing it. Besides what @Bold-Arrow and @exciter mentioned, I am fairly confident that Amazon begins to give you more opportunities as a seller once you switch to a professional seller plan. I started getting a lot more leniency selling a variety of products once i switched.

Does Amazon make you collect and report sales tax as a professional seller or can you still use the facilitator as a default?

Agreed with everyone said so far about the advantages of a Pro seller account. However, there is a risk that one may not pass the additional review by Amazon during the account "upgrade" process. I heard that Amazon is asking for documentations and who know what/how/when/why would satisfy Amazon?  Just my 2 cents.  (Therefore, I am staying as a individual account, especially during this close to Q4)

I meant for more than just your home state.  I know there were some other states that Amazon was collecting sales tax for through the facilitator on FBA orders even with an individual seller account, but it was just a pass-through.

Amazon automatically collects taxes for WA, PA, UT and i believe one more state. Those cant be disabled.

Got it.  I just wanted to make sure Amazon wasn't going to force me to collect sales tax on those orders as a professional seller and not handle the reporting side to get that money back to the state.

I wish they would just do the same thing for every state and call it a day .
