Selling Lego on Amazon.com

I really hope Amazon isn't asking for Children's Product Certification, because they would not accept any document from https://www.lego.com/en-us/aboutus/lego-group/product-safety/ when I applied earlier this year for the toy category.

I was approved to sell Lego as a brand back in May, but I could find no way to get past the hard gate on toys. I even emailed Lego's Sr. Compliance Manager, asking for a CPC. Response is below. Again, I hope this isn't an extension of that policy, but it sounds a whole lot like it.

Dear Marc,

The term “Retail Customer” on LEGO certificates means a retailer such as Walmart or Target.  Individual purchasers of our product are consumers, and not retail customers, and it is our company policy that we do not share test reports or test data with the general public.

I am sorry that I cannot be of further help to you with documentation beyond the certificate we make available online.  I would like to reassure you that all LEGO products are extensively tested to all applicable international standards at 3rd party accredited test labs.

Best regards,

No, brand approval, not toy approval. Brand is easy, just use a non-toy product. Toy approval = impossible for new sellers. Existing sellers with strong sales used to get auto approved in new categories.

Gotcha. A sigh of relief just resonated among resellers on the right side of the lego gate.

I think a lot more has to do with what rep we will get for our individual cases. I've used those certificates before with success albeit it was not just solely for the cpc. I think this will have more to do with how the rep is feeling, what he/she ate for breakfast, did they get enough sleep the night before etc.... plus they are probably getting thousands of emails with different toy cpcs. We're in for a long wait most likely.

I've emailed CS from LEGO to see if they have one hiding around and perhaps the tool is just missing it. I'll post whatever reply I get.

Regarding #76081, per Lego CS:

Thanks for getting in touch with us. I'm sorry that we don't have that Safety Certification sheet on the LEGO® site.

I do know that, while we do provide safety certificates for most our sets which are also available to view online, this is by no means complete. Although there's no US certification sheet available, I know that you should be able to find the European certifications for that set if you change the region to 'EU'. Hopefully this will at least provide some of the information that you're looking for.

If there's anything else we can do to help, definitely let us know.

Have a brick-tastic day!

We want to make sure we're doing a good job for you, so you’ll always find the link to a four-question survey in our emails. Please tell us how we did today:

Please let us know if you need anything else.

Kind regards,

There is a blanket non-specific model conformity statement here:

https://www.lego.com/en-us/aboutus/lego-group/conformity-statements/

That might be enough, but I'm not sure.

Anyone know if that White House flipper is still active? One FBA unit of mine just sold to a business customer so I’m worried that it’ll just end up getting returned and I’ll have to deal with some BS.

I don’t believe he was a business costumer . If you want to make sure , try to open a case , you are not really opening one - go to customer orders , type in order number the name will pop up even if the order is still pending . If it is MH then u have a match .

I sold some with zero issues recently, none to MH.

Anyone seeing this now on LEGO sets?

Not yet, but I also started converting my FBM to FBA recently. This could be a nice boost for FBA sellers. Nothing against FBM sellers, I still list that way, but if in fact Lego gets limited and that equals less sellers, amazon buyers at Christmas time are out of their mind sometimes which = .

They must have flipped the switch of holiday MF toy gate a half day early.  This is coming up on all toys for me, not just Lego. In the past, they haven't enforced this if your 25 orders were FBA and not all MF during the qualifying period.

I received this back. I guess this means they want this specific certification?

Greetings,

Amazon's policies require that all toys sold through the Amazon website meet specified certification standards. In order to sell these products on Amazon, you must apply by submitting the following items.

1. A document confirming that your product was tested according to the below standards:
i) ASTM F963-16 /ASTM F963-17
ii) The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA)

A document confirming that your product was tested according to the standard listed by a laboratory that is certified to the ILAC ISO 17025 standard.

Amazon Global Selling – Compliance Solutions Providers in the United States: https://services.amazon.com/solution-providers/#/search/US/compliance?localeSelection=en_US

By applying to sell these products you certify that all materials you submit in conjunction with your application are true, authentic, and accurate. Note that Amazon may remove your selling privileges for failing to meet these requirements.

We appreciate your cooperation on this important matter.

Thank you for selling with Amazon,

So no listed specific ASINs from before. Now it just says ALL toys? Plus is that not the same paperwork sent before?

Seems it was auto generated once they looked at your email from before. I got the same thing. Something tells me the other documentation we sent in wasn't even looked at. As there is no message here stating those forms were not acceptable. Just guessing here.

This is just a sh*tshow. Every toy listing says that message on my app. I got the email starting only 2 ASINs needed certification and I just deleted the listing. It is clear to me that Amazon wants freehold of these toy listing.

What message are you seeing in the app?  One that relates to the certification or the FBA notice?

I looked at the attachments I included in the email and they were not imported correctly (only the text from the case were in each one).  I replied multiple times with the attachments again, since they can only receive 6 attachments per reply in Seller Central.  Hopefully they look at the attachments this time.  Go into Seller Central and view your attachments and verify they are correct.
