kenaijoe Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 If you had to guess, what would you say the prospects for the advent calendars are at this point as a flip this year? I see the star wars version is OOS on target.com and that Amazon has put a 2 per order limit on all of them. I haven't been seeing tons of them in stores. Thoughts? Quote
mscheaf Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Not looking promising so far IMO. Hopefully they start to go faster the next few weeks. Quote
marcandre Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Anyone remember when it went oos last year? It's still pretty early for stuff to start vanishing. Give it a few more weeks. Quote
odysea11 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 All of my local Targets are stacked to the hilt with these things. They seem to be a dime a dozen right now, but that will quickly change! Santa Vader will be a hot item this year, I just hope Lego didn't over produce. Quote
xeeeej Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 (edited) Its Amazon sales rank is #8 in toys and games, so it's already relatively popular. It will just be a matter of if supply can meet the rising tide of the holiday sales surge. I haven't purchased any yet, but will probably pick a handful up in the next week or 2. I am Niko Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 All the Targets I've been to seem to have plenty of these, and the 2 TRUs I've been to recently had about 15 each. Just picked up 2 to get the Bricktober promo last week. Quote

That's around the same time the Dolphin Cruiser and Heartlake Vet started getting hot too. Probably a good gauge. Three more weeks to stock up on sets you think will be good flips. Choose wisely... 1 Quote
Bold-Arrow Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 if you want to go by the DC reference, the alarm on BP was sounded on Dec3rd. sellers were reporting v. high demand for the set startingg Nov 28th-29th Quote
ravenb99 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 This one is still going to be hot imo. The way i look at this one is even if they overproduce some it will do well next year also. City isnt bad looking. Friends doesn't seem as good but always seems to sell. Im SW loaded though. 60 compared to 10 ea of the other 2 Quote
marcandre Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I think this will sell out too. The question is will it get high enough to be worthwhile. I have not seen it discounted much. If paying $43 a set it's going to need to double to be worth the trouble, at least for me. I was able to get 3 at 20% from yoyo. Boscovs had it discounted too but ran out pretty quick. Anyone see it discounted anywhere else? Quote
Dbroncoboy Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Toys R us with the 10% off for using CC and Bricktober sets. 1 Quote

Anyone see it discounted anywhere else? The B&****** deal a few weeks ago got them down to $30. Also did a few buy 3 and get the holiday promo with double points so after selling promo and bonus points about $32 each TRU Bricktober deal , buy 2 and sell the Bricktober got down to $27.50-30 Quote
kenaijoe Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 The City Advent now says "In stock but may require an extra 1-2 days to process" on Amazon. Surprisingly, this one has the best rank too. SW and Friends are both OOS on target.com. Quote
kenaijoe Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 And now the SW set says "may require an extra 1-2 days to process" too! Quote
justapilgrim Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Am I the only one that thinks this one is bad? I'm new, but there too many people excited over the silliest things. You can pick up some of each of the last few years calendars for around $50 shipped without looking too hard, so why is this one so much better? It's not like Darth Santa is selling $20 a pop right now I'll pass Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Brickpicker mobile app 1 Quote
zskid00 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 If these are sold out after Black Friday then the prices will be more than $50 shipped on eBay. Patience young padawan. 1 Quote

kenaijoe Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I just watched almost 200 city advent sets get sold in about 90 mins from 3rd party sellers on Amazon. Priced at $31 and then $35. Propagate that out 2 more weeks. Also, both of my lego stores are out of city and sw. Still in stock at wm.com. Quote
abri123 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) The SW advent calendar went to 'sold out' in Lego Shop Online in Europe 3 days ago. Edited November 11, 2014 by abri123 Quote
ravenb99 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I'm at 60 of them. Only about a dozen friends and city. No reason really just focused on the SW. Have roughly $30 or less into them so I expect to do well with them. Think this one is a lot better than the others also. They are a short term investment for me as well. Like you said they don't really sell any better a few years later but you can double pretty easy when they run out if you picked up at a discount. Quote
ravenb99 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Same numbers here but I also have a handful of friends sets. I stopped buying them last month but I may pickup another 10-20 SW's this week as I run across them. Worst case I part them out and put them on BL next year. Pretty confident that won't be necessary. Agreed, haven't bought anymore since TRU promotion ended. See if any other deals pop up. Would like to get some more Friends and City. I do well with the 3 pack lots. Just really like the Vader piece and like you said should be easily to part out down the road if need be (also don't think it will be necessary) Quote
Deez_Brickz Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Amazon buy box price up to $55 already for the SW advent. Anyone think 65-70$ is possible with FBA? Quote
