Brickbuilder.g Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Which one of you is this guy? Went to my LEGO store for the VIP event and picked up an R2. Was talking to the manager about how I "hear that R2 is going away" and she says "Yes, it's sad but true". She then says that someone had called the store during the week asking to buy 4 and have them shipped. So she got his name and then proceeded to look him up in the system and she says it appears that this guy has called at least 21 LEGO stores across the country looking for R2's and got almost all the stores to sell him at least 2 each. She says "I guess I know what he is going to do with them..." I hope this isn't true...greed kills Quote
Ciglione Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I'll laugh if R2 comes back. Why!? Cause someone has the balls to go all - in? 2 Quote
Sauromosis Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 No, because I heard it is coming back and because if that guy gets bigger, he'll wipe out a set I want some day. Plus he's probably gonna ruin stores being willing to ship to us. Quote
marcandre Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I'll laugh if R2 comes back. Pretty lame. We applaud hoarding here. It's toos, will likely make one more appearance at LEGO Shop at Home. 2 Quote
Alpinemaps Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I hope this isn't true...greed kills I don't think it really was Trekgate, but he did call a bunch of LEGO stores a few months back, and he did just get a bunch of R2s... Lol Quote

holleman67 Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Don't be mad at someone hustling just because you didn't think of it first! Better than sitting at your computer f5ing! 2 Quote
redcell Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I think it might be - Not too many people would call all the locations across the country. Three years ago when LEGO Shop at Home did their monster X-mas 50% blowout, I remember one guy posting about how he had basically sat at home and spent about $30k on 12/26 by calling around to every Lego store and ordering as much of the discounted product as he could. I've never done it, but it's certainly a viable way to get sets that are on their way out...well, I guess it would be proper to say that it is viable for the moment. Quote
trekgate502 Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Alpine maps called it I will call every store in the country to find a set I want but ... It was absolutely not me. I only ordered one repeat quantity one from a lego store to hone I never violate limits of Lego... For real... 3 Quote
trekgate502 Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 And trekgate was his name-o... Already a legend... Thanks for the fame Alas not me. Have lots of them but not stores. Too busy today picking up all my OH's. Quote
trekgate502 Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Cat got everyones tongue? Now maybe the real speed orderer can stand up. Quote
jaylay Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Going to clear out my Lego store of R2. I'm not a fan of F5ing. Got a life u know. Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I think people who go and clear out lego stores and leave nothing for poor little Timmy should get a life :) 3 Quote
ravenb99 Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I think people who go and clear out lego stores and leave nothing for poor little Timmy should get a life thought it was Johnny, now Timmy. Next it'll be Bobby, Danny, or Donny lol. Soon they'll be a whole army of poor littles buying up the LEGO Quote
meowsmeowsmeows Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 thought it was Johnny, now Timmy. Next it'll be Bobby, Danny, or Donny lol. Soon they'll be a whole army of poor littles buying up the LEGO Little Johnny wants all of the retiring sets for Christmas and can't get any because they're out of stock, and now has a sad face in front of the Christmas tree. Timmy wants many of the EOL'ing now sets because his grandma is willing to buy them for him. C'mon people, let's get this right! (in the words of Ron Burgundy). Sad to say, my 7-year old nephew wants the Death Star and R2 still and I don't think he'll be getting them anytime soon from his parents (and rightfully so). He likes Star Wars, Chima, and Ninjago. Perhaps I can sell one to my sister in the future... 1 Quote

dubzero Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 I heard little Bobby is flipping minifigs on the side. Just sayin' Quote
marcandre Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 We knew it would be back at lego, it was toos. SSD did the same thing. Quote
trekgate502 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Yes, very very much so. I have multiple sources that have confirmed it to me, several of which I hold in high regard. I could be wrong. I have a lot and at my LEGO Shop at Home limits or I would buy more. Quote
brickelements Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 What I heard from a Lego employee this weekend during VIP event: The ONLY reason R2 went TOOS was a production/quality issues. They were forced to stop selling them. I wonder if TLG will send out any kind of info on potential replacments if there were poor quality sets resleased. COuld be easy to find with Production Code on boxes. How soon till R2 is EOL is anyone guess with more info than I have available to me. I have zero "in the know" connections Quote
dcdfan Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 And we still don't believe the production problem has anything to do with the missing bag #7? 1 Quote
